Sunday Night Heat 9-15-2024

MIKE ROME: The opening contest is scheduled for one fall. In the ring… CAPTAIN SHAWN DEAN!

Dean gives the WWE Universe a wave as they politely applaud the former military man. After a few moments of waiting, Shaggy's "Boombastic" begins playing. Jesús struts out from the back wearing his signature brightly colored pants and matching suspenders. He's going bright yellow for his return to the ring and to make things worse, he's added a fedora to his ensemble, tilted to the right.

MIKE ROME: And introducing his opponent, from San Diego, California, weighing in at two-hundred and forty-two pounds… JESÚS!

The crowd is not happy to see Jesús and let him know as they serenade him with boos while he saunters down to the ring.

MAURO RANALLO: Well it looks like we're going to see Jesús compete to open up Sunday Night Heat, Beth!

BETH PHOENIX: I'm confused… I thought he was only under contract to exclusively interfere in Carlito's matches! Does he know Carlito's not here tonight?

MAURO RANALLO: Well we know he's been banned from ringside for Carlito's match tomorrow night against Jon Moxley. Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess!

The referee is trying to get Jesús in the ring but Jesús is too busy trying to flirt with a few women at ringside. He gives them the single bicep flex, but they don't seem very interested, which infuriates the big man.

BETH PHOENIX: Desperate is the perfect word to describe his efforts to woo some of our female fans at ringside, too!

MAURO RANALLO: You've got that right. Get in the ring, man!


After giving up on the ladies at ringside, Jesús enters the ring and carefully places his fedora on top of the ring post. The referee makes sure both men are ready and calls for the bell. The two lock up but Jesús easily overpowers Shawn Dean and shoves him down hard. Dean is back up, wanting to lock up again. Jesús is more than happy to oblige and quickly walks his opponent back against the ropes. The referee asks for a clean break. Jesús looks like he's going to comply, but at the very last second he slaps Shawn Dean across the face. The crowd boos as Jesús obnoxiously tugs on his suspenders. He turns around in time to see Shawn Dean leap and nail him with a dropkick! That backs Jesús up against the ropes. Dean follows up by charging and managing to clothesline the big man out of the ring!

MAURO RANALLO: Look at Captain Shawn Dean go!

BETH PHOENIX: It's been a while since Jesús has been in the ring. He can't afford to underestimate his opponent!

Dean gets the crowd behind him as he grabs the top rope with both hands. He waits for Jesús to turn around before he launches himself up and over the top rope with the plancha -- but Jesús catches him! He parades him around for a few moments before dropping him face first on the ring apron! Jesús rolls Dean into the ring and follows up with a pin. 1… 2… kickout! Jesús applies a chinlock, wanting to ground his opponent. Dean eventually works his way up and begins to elbow out. Dean hits the ropes but Jesús is ready with a big boot -- no! Dean ducks out of the way! Captain Shawn Dean comes back… Black Hole Slam by Jesús! Jesús covers! 1… 2… Jesús lifts Dean's shoulder up?

MAURO RANALLO: What is he doing? He had the match won with that Black Hole Slam!

BETH PHOENIX: I think he might want to play with his food a little more, Mauro!

The referee questions Jesús, who shoots him a dirty look. Jesús picks Shawn Dean up and whips him hard into the turnbuckles. He taunts the booing fans before taking off and flattening Dean with an avalanche in the corner. Dean stumbles out into the waiting arms of Jesús, who easily military presses him into the air. After a few moments, Jesús slams him down to the mat with authority!

MAURO RANALLO: He calls that Montezuma's Revenge!

BETH PHOENIX: Call for the bell, ref!

Jesús places a boot on Captain Shawn Dean's chest and demands the referee count. With a smirk and another tug of his suspenders, Jesús basks in the boos and jeers from the crowd as the referee drops down and counts the 1-2-3.


MIKE ROME: Here is your winner… JESÚS!

"Boombastic" starts up again. The referee is about to raise Jesús' hand in victory, but Jesús scares him off with a look.

MAURO RANALLO: Well thankfully this one is over. Jesús gets the win in rather dominant fashion, but you have to applaud the efforts of Captain Shawn Dean!

BETH PHOENIX: Absolutely, Mauro!

Jesús grabs his fedora off the ring post and puts it on. Jesús again tries to flirt with the ladies at ringside but they still aren't very interested.

MAURO RANALLO: I hope Jesús enjoyed his time in the ring tonight because he won't be allowed anywhere near the ring tomorrow night when Carlito and Jon Moxley square off on Monday Night RAW!

BETH PHOENIX: I can't wait for that one! Carlito's going to have his hands full and there won't be anyone there to help him out!
