WWE.COM EXCLUSIVE: Matt Menard Backstage
Thursday, September 19th, 2024
To say that things have been tough for Matt Menard recently is a bit of an understatement. During the last Premium Live Event cycle, "Daddy Magic" was on the receiving end of some great news, when he successfully negotiated a World Tag Team Championship opportunity for himself and Angelo Parker while backstage at SummerSlam. It seems like so long ago. Since then, Parker has blown out his knee and is out of action for an undetermined amount of time and Matt Menard has taken to singles action for the first time in his career. Matt Menard has been unable to capture a singles victory, and has been beaten decisively in his last two outings. Two weeks ago on RAW, "Daddy Magic" was defeated by The Patriarchy's protege Nick Wayne. Looking to send a message to his rival, John Cena insisted that he faced Matt Menard next, to prove to Nick Wayne how easy a match against Menard should be. Try as he might, Menard was not victorious in that effort either.. With losing efforts to both young rookies and grizzled veterans, Menard is struggling to find his footing in the ranks of the WWE Universe.
Moments after this disappointing loss to John Cena, the WWE.com team caught up with Daddy Magic.

CAMERA CREW: Matt, Matt - would you mind sharing your thoughts after that disappointing loss tonight?
Even as he grimaces through the pain of receiving an Attitude Adjustment from John Cena, you can still see a look of bewilderment on his face. The question has only served to piss off Menard.
"DADDY MAGIC" MATT MENARD: My .. my thoughts, man? I just went out on national television and got embarrassed by someone who is probably twice my age... I just got beat by a man doesn't have nearly as much to fight for as I do .. I just .. --- John Cena doesn't know what it's like to have a wife and two kids dependin' on him to put food on the table. John Cena's career isn't hanging on by a thread .. John Cena has job stability. John Cena knows where his next paycheck is comin' from .. Well, I don't. I don't know what is next for Matt Menard. I don't know if I'm going to ever going to cash another paycheck from the WWE, because I just pissed away the opportunity of a lifetime for the second time in as many weeks .. AND YOU WANNA KNOW MY FRIGGIN' THOUGHTS, HUH? YOU WANNA KNOW HOW I'M FEELIN' --- WELL, IT AIN'T GOOD, PAL!
Menard practically screams at the camera, his voice breaking in the process. There's a few tense seconds where Menard is staring right into the camera, breathing heavily with a crazed look in his eye.
"DADDY MAGIC" MATT MENARD: I ain't doin' too good ... But, thanks for asking.
Menard's breath is shaky as he stares into the camera as it fades away to black.
