Monday Night RAW
March 11, 2024
Allstate Arena
Chicago, Illinois
As the smoke clears from the opening pyro, the fans in the arena are all eager to kick off another exciting episode of WWE RAW! Cheers pour in as the camera pans around the Allstate Arena in Chicago, revealing just how packed it is tonight. The RAW theme plays lightly, as our camera swings to the commentary desk where we are welcomed by our team of Wade Barrett and Michael Cole.
WADE BARRETT: We are LIVE in Chicago, Illinois- perhaps the rowdiest city in the entirety of the WWE Universe! Tonight, we move one step closer to Night of Champions and I have a feeling that we are in for a treat here tonight.
MICHAEL COLE: As always, I am Michael Cole being joined by Wade Barrett, and Wade - you hit the nail on the head there. Chicago is as rowdy and wild as they come, and we are in for a special night here on RAW.
WADE BARRETT: You could say that again. It's the Semi-Finals of the WWE Championship Tournament. Can you believe it, Cole? Tonight, we are going to find out the two men that will be challenging for the Vacant WWE Championship at Night of Champions!
MICHAEL COLE: Juice Robinson scored a major victory over "All Ego" Ethan Page and takes on "The American Hero" Gable Steveson here tonight!
WADE BARRETT: And, boy, did Steveson look impressive last week against Darby Allin. And on the other side of the bracket, it's Swerve Strickland taking on "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes!
MICHAEL COLE: On top of that, action is heating up in both the Tag Team Division and the Women's Division!
WADE BARRETT: Serena Deeb and Tiffany Stratton square off and the winner punches their ticket to the Fatal Four-Way bout at Night of Champions to decide a new WWE Women's Champion.
MICHAEL COLE: We are in for quite a night here in Chicago!
Just then, the theme of William Regal begins to play over the sound system, drawing all the attention of the crowd to the entrance ramp. RAW's General Manager makes his way out onto the entrance ramp, holding a black bag at his side. He trots down the entrance ramp, waving to fans and high-fiving a few along the way.
WADE BARRETT: I'm honestly surprised to see our GM William Regal out here right now. With how chaotic things must be as the General Manager of the WWE, I don't see how he has the time!
MICHAEL COLE: Yeah, especially when he's got to deal with the Superstars of the WWE all chasing their respective championships. William Regal certainly has had his plate full as of late. And judging by that bag under his arm, I have a feeling we are about to hear more about it.
Regal wipes his feet on the apron before entering the ring. He immediately walks towards the stage hand and receives a microphone. He walks around the ring, before stopping in the center of the ring, and raising the microphone to address the crowd.
WILLIAM REGAL: Ladies and gentlemen, we have Superstars chomping at the bit to settle some scores here in the ring, so I won't take up much of your time this evening. First and foremost, I want to thank the lovely city of Chicago for always being such gracious hosts to the WWE.
Regal allows a moment for the cheap pop to register, as the fans in Chicago cheer loudly. After a few seconds, the cheers subside and Regal continues on.
WILLIAM REGAL: Now, as I am sure that you are all aware, we are in the midst of a new era here in the WWE. There are the Tag Team Championships that are set to be decided in a TLC Match at Night of Champions. There is the Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match that will determine the new WWE Women's Champion. And of course, we'll see the finals of the WWE Championship Tournament take place to decide a new Champion of World Wrestling Entertainment. And, you may have heard about…this championship.
William Regal lowers the microphone and digs into the black bag that he brought with him. Regal pulls out the Intercontinental Championship, which gleams off the bright lights in the arena. Regal proudly places the Championship at his side, as he continues speaking.
WILLIAM REGAL: The Intercontinental Championship - this illustrious title has stood the test of time as a beacon of prestige and honor, a symbol of excellence in our industry. From legends like Randy Savage, to Bret "The Hitman" Hart to Shawn Michaels, to Eddie Guerrero, to even yours truly - the Intercontinental Championship has graced the waists of some of the industry's most iconic and important figures. Each title reign etches another chapter in the storied history of our beloved sport. The Intercontinental Championship isn't just gold and leather; it is a testament to the blood, sweat, and tears shed within this squared circle. It's a coveted prize, a stepping stone to immortality.
Regal raises the Championship up over his head as the fans applaud.
WILLIAM REGAL: And at Night of Champions, we will crown a new Intercontinental Champion. A battle royal will take place, and the last man standing will etch their name in the history books as the new Intercontinental Champion of the new era. To the Superstars of the WWE, if you are looking for an opportunity, you have just found one. If you want to seize your opportunity, I believe I'm a rather easy man to find. An--
Just then...
The lights of the Allstate Arena fall to a pure darkness… as a few cell phone flashlights begin to sprout, the arena bursts to life as a static sound and visual strike the RAW stage. The stage goes dark once again… and as the Chicago faithful start to buzz…
…
…
A guitar riff drags across the sound system… and in drops “WILD THING” BY X! The Allstate Arena’s roof nearly comes unglued, as the audience all rise in unison and begin to groove along to the old tune of Ricky Vaughn… Jon Moxley has officially arrived in World Wrestling Entertainment!
Out from behind the curtain - on to the landing, below Section 212… the crowd erupts as Jon Moxley finally appears in the middle of the madhouse! Moxley, in his usual dark combat pants and black hoodie with his hood up firm, appears to lock his focus on William Regal. Regal stays stoic in the ring, Intercontinental Championship still proudly displayed, smiling up at Jon Moxley.
Moxley takes his time down the stairs, soaking in the love and admiration of Chicago. He finally reaches and climbs over the barricade, ever so casually spinning around – he again locks eyes with Regal. Laser focused on Regal, Jon Moxley finally saunters over and rolls into the WWE squared circle for what feels like the first time ever! The crowd continues to pour their appreciation over the simple sight of Jon Moxley and William Regal coming face to face in the middle of the ring. Moxley’s entrance theme fades as he swiftly rips the microphone from Rega. He stays staring at Regal as the crowd waits with bated breath.
JON MOXLEY: Hello…sunshine. It uh…it feels like we’re destined to do this forever…
A man who appears to have much to say on the inside, Moxley takes the microphone down and allows the crowd to take in the moment some more.
JON MOXLEY: WELL – WILLIAM REGAL – LOOK NO FURTHER! You have once again met your match. And, it appears, at this rate…your maker?
The crowd gasps at the notion, but Jon continues.
JON MOXLEY: I ain't got much time for ya, old pal. You know more than anyone else on this planet – Jon Moxley has things to do. So let me cut to the chase for you, OLD FRIEND. You need an Intercontinental Champion? You’re looking at him. It doesn’t matter the opponent or how many… it doesn’t matter the time or the place… THIS Jon Moxley is every bit as good as you remember them saying. AND REGAL! Oh… Regal… DON’T YOU DARE IGNORE ME! Do you remember what happens when Jon Moxley is ignored? I’m sure you do, buddy. 2011...2014…2022…we go back a ways, don’t we? WE SURE DO.
Jon Moxley’s rant quickly turns to anger, never allowing William Regal a chance to fit one word in.
JON MOXLEY: You’ll never beat me again. You’re an old man now.
The crowd reacts to Moxley’s harsh, but suddenly mellow tone.
JON MOXLEY: And NOBODY in the WWE will defeat JON MOXLEY! It’s okay, Bill. Just because YOU are old now…does NOT mean anybody else can beat me…now. And they won’t. Rest assured, my friend. I’ll see you and whoever shows up at Madison Square Garden. You’ll be seeing Jon Moxley…brand new...THE FIRST!
One last pause from Mox.
JON MOXLEY: ...THE ONLY. Intercontinental Champion of the new era.
A thousand yard-like stare falls over Jon Moxley, his attention dropping from Regal’s eyes to the Intercontinental Championship held in his arms. The microphone falls from Moxley’s lips to the mat and Wild Thing hits once again. Moxley walks out of the ring, before Regal even gets the opportunity to say a single word to a man who he has shared so much history with. The cameras then shift back over to Michael Cole and Wade Barrett at ringside.
MICHAEL COLE: Jon Moxley with one heck of a statement to our General Manager tonight!
WADE BARRETT: You could almost cut through that tension with a knife, Cole. It's been a long time since we've seen Jon Moxley in a WWE ring, but he certainly made up for lost time, didn't he?
MICHAEL COLE: He sure did, Wade! And he made a bombshell announcement by being the first to announce that he plans on entering the Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal!
WADE BARRETT: Anyone who enters that match from here on out better be on their A-game, because Moxley isn't playing around!
MICHAEL COLE: The Intercontinental Championship match is already shaping up to be very interesting, but now it's time to shift our focus to the WWE Championship. It's time for our first match of the night, one of two semi-finals matches. Strickland, Rhodes, here we go!
“Kingdom" by Downstait hits the P/A system now and the crowd goes wild as they sing along to the lyrics. Cody Rhodes begins his walk down the rampway as the pyro sparks up behind him, touches the ground before he bounces back up as he hits the "WHOOOAAAA-OHHHH!" with the crowd.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Making his way to the ring for this semi-final WWE Championship tournament match, he is The American Nightmare, COOODY RHOOODES!
MICHAEL COLE: Cody Rhodes is a man who has turned his luck around, he started out taking a loss to Maxwell Jacob Friedman but it seems to have motivated him. He's been operating on a different level since entering the tournament for the WWE Championship.
WADE BARRETT: Christian Cage can attest to that after taking three consecutive Cross Rhodes last week. Cody Rhodes wasn't taking any chances and he took home a big victory to advance in this tournament. We'll have to see if he brings that same fire this week though, Cole.
MICHAEL COLE: You would have to image he's champing at the bit now that he's in the semi-finals. Although Swerve Strickland is certainly not going to be an easy man to get a victory over.
Cody hands his weight belt off to one of the kids in front row as he ruffles her hair and slaps a few hands before climbing the stairs and up onto the turnbuckle, sticking his arms out for the crowd before hopping down into the ring. As he removes his coat, "Big Pressure Remix" hits the P/A system and Prince Nana comes dancing out to the crowd’s approval. As he dances out of the way, Swerve Strickland comes walking out with his usual swagger.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: And his opponent in this semi-final tournament match, he is The Crown Jewel, SWEEERVE STRIIICKLAND!
Pulling off his black and red balaclava, he tosses it to Nana, an ice cold killer expression on his face as he looks towards Cody Rhodes in the ring. Prince Nana goes to rub the shoulders of Strickland as he makes his way to the ring but Strickland shrugs him off and has a word to the side with him all while staring at Cody Rhodes, as Nana just nods his head, his smiling expression on his face now vanished.
WADE BARRETT: All that confidence shown in his swagger and suddenly I'm thinking that Cody Rhodes might not be ready for this. Swerve has been on a tear and he's yet to lose a match heading into this one. He's trying to head an empire and he doesn't want any weakness shown to those who rely on him in the Mogul Embassy.
MICHAEL COLE: Well tonight should prove to be a tough challenge because Cody is a man on a mission. He's been adamant in his desire to finally claim the WWE Championship not only for himself but also for his late father, Dusty Rhodes.
WADE BARRETT: We'll just have to see who wants it more tonight, Cole.
SINGLES MATCH
As the bell rings, Swerve Strickland immediately gets in Cody Rhodes' face as the two begin to mouth off to one another. After a moment, Strickland slaps the taste out of Rhodes' mouth and as Cody reels back, he wipes his hand over his mouth and nods his head a bit to acknowledge the slap before he throws a punch at Swerve and the two begin to beat the hell out of each other with punches before Cody gets him in a headlock.
MICHAEL COLE: These two are wasting no time!
WADE BARRETT: Rhodes just had the taste slapped out of his mouth!
MICHAEL COLE: They're firing off shots at one another and it seems like we've got ourselves a real semi-final tournament match on our hands.
Swerve Strickland struggles for a moment, but gets the go behind with a wristlock and taunts Cody for a moment before shoving him away. As they square off again, Cody ducks a shot and now he gets the go behind, but gets elbowed in the side of the head and caught for a belly to back suplex where Swerve takes advantage and slaps him in the back of the head. Cody immediately gets to his feet as he watches the smirk spread across Strickland's face. The two lock up in the center of the ring and Cody looks like he might be gaining the advantage, but Swerve's strength overtakes him as he pushes Cody back.
WADE BARRETT: It looks like Swerve may have the slight power advantage over Cody Rhodes here.
MICHAEL COLE: Not something any competitor likes to find out, although Cody does have a bit more in his repertoire as far as wrestling moves go. So, this match is still anybody’s game, Wade.
Cody gets backed into the ropes and pushed off to the other side and as he bounces back, he gets nailed with a discus lariat that drops him. Swerve motions for him to get up as he nails the HOUSE CALL and goes for the cover but only gets a one count before Rhodes gets the shoulder up and immediately gets to his feet, slapping his face as he motions for Strickland to bring it. Swerve throws an elbow and Rhodes throws one right back.
WADE BARRETT: Cody Rhodes sure has that same fire tonight for Monday night RAW as he did last week!
MICHAEL COLE: It certainly looks like he's ready for the level of aggression that Swerve Strickland has been bringing to each of his matches so far.
Cody Rhodes rears back and throws another and Swerve throws one back, Strickland goes for another, but it's ducked and Cody drops down to nail a drop down uppercut, pulling Swerve in for the Cross Rhodes while he's dazed but is nailed with a back body drop instead as Strickland power out of it. Cody gets to his feet, clutching his back as Swerve does a forward roll and nails a Flatliner before hooking the leg for the cover, 1...2! NO!
WADE BARRETT: Rhodes gets the shoulder up again! What needs to be done to put this man down for three?
MICHAEL COLE: A question that Swerve Strickland would certainly like the answer to!
Swerve Strickland gets up and confronts the referee, slapping his hand three times as he points to Cody who is trying to get up now. Swerve grabs the referee by his shirt but he warns him that he'll be disqualified. Cody rolls him up from behind and the referee drops for a count, 1..2..3! NO! Swerve kicks out and the two get back to their feet, but Cody rolls him up again with an inside cradle, 1..2…NO! Swerve kicks out again and gets to his feet but this time wraps his arms around the waist of Cody from behind and nails a nasty looking German suplex that has so much momentum it makes Cody bounce and flop over onto his stomach after the initial impact.
WADE BARRETT: That was a rough landing for Cody, Cole!
MICHAEL COLE: It certainly was, and Swerve doesn't look like he's about to let up either!
WADE BARRETT: Not if he wants to win he isn't!
Swerve motions for this to be over as he pulls Cody up and nails a stump piledriver in the center of the ring. He grabs Cody by the back of his neck and pulls him up to stare him in the eyes as he yells at him that this is the work he does and Cody doesn't stand a chance, before tossing him back down and bouncing the back of his head off the canvas. Strickland climbs to the top rope as Cody just barely sits up and is nailed with the SWERVE STOMP from the top rope. Swerve goes for the cover and hooks the leg, 1...2....3! It's over!!

SWERVE STRICKLAND

SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here is your winner and moving forward to the final round of the WWE Championship Tournament, SWERRRVE STRIIICKLAAAND!
MICHAEL COLE: Swerve continues to tear through the male superstars, but Cody wasn't an easy fight for him at all.
WADE BARRETT: Well with the instincts and veteran knowledge that Cody Rhodes has learned over the years, that's no surprise. Swerve is just on another level right now and that's hard for anyone to deny. And now he's on his way to the main event at Night of Champions!
MICHAEL COLE: We'll certainly have to keep our eyes open tonight to see who wins the other semi-final match to move on to the final round of this tournament. The high stakes mean all these men have been performing on a different level than usual.
”Big Pressure Remix” begins playing over the speakers again as Swerve Strickland gets to his feet, a cocky smile on his face. The referee raises his hand in the air, declaring him the victor, and he pulls away his arm and walks over to the ropes, exiting the ring and hopping down to the floor. Prince Nana dances his way over to Strickland, ecstatic that his boss has made it to the WWE Championship finals. Strickland just shakes his head at Nana as he makes his way up the ramp to the back. Meanwhile, in the ring, Cody Rhodes is sitting up, disappointment clear on his face as the reality of the situation sets in. He looks around at the crowd as they cheer for him in support, gives them a nod and mouths “thank you” before rolling under the bottom rope to exit the ring and begins to make his way up the ramp to the back. The cameras then go backstage where we see Cathy Kelly standing by in the interview area.
CATHY KELLEY: Ladies and gentlemen, my guests at this time, Nick and Matt Jackson, the Young Bucks!
The crowd still isn’t sure whether to cheer or boo them but it keeps leaning more and more towards being booed. They come into frame, Nick in a jet black suit and Matt in a white suit. They flank Cathy on each side.
CATHY KELLEY: Guys, you said two weeks ago that you were going to make your WWE debut on RAW. Well, that has come and gone and you got the win in your first ever match. Thoughts?
MATT JACKSON: No Cathy, there are no ‘thoughts’ about the match last week. It was a cakewalk.
NICK JACKSON: No real challenge if we’re being honest. And weren’t DIY one of the better tag teams in WWE before this whole thing went down?
MATT JACKSON: I mean, not the best, surely. The tag team division couldn’t have been that bad.
NICK JACKSON: It’s pretty bad.
CATHY KELLEY: You guys seem rather confident. I’m assuming tag team gold is in the Young Bucks’ sight right now?
MATT JACKSON: If the tag division has any slim chance of hope, yes. We are here to save the WWE tag team division. It needs Nick and Matt Jackson at the top of the ladder.
NICK JACKSON: We’ve won everywhere we’ve gone, Cathy. Everywhere. WWE will be no different. When the time is right, we will prove ourselves.
MATT JACKSON: Not that we have to or even should have to. We have literal decades of history to back up our words.
NICK JACKSON: Most of these tag teams haven’t been in the business for a decade, Cath.
MATT JACKSON: Can we call you Cath?
CATHY KELLEY: I, uh…don’t see why not.
MATT JACKSON: There’s a reason why we’re called The Elite. Look up the definition of the word “elite” and you’ll see a picture of Nick and Matt Jackson right next to it. The very tippity top very best there is in the world.
NICK JACKSON: We’re not here just to get some ‘light cheering’ from the crowd. You know what I mean?
MATT JACKSON: We’re here to be the WWE Tag Team Champions and take our place atop this lackluster division and take it to new heights!
NICK JACKSON: We don’t think we’re just going to waltz to that spot though. We know it’ll take a bit of work. That’s why we’ve asked to join the commentary team tonight, when the Authors of Pain take on #DIY.
MATT JACKSON: We figure it’ll be best to get a bird’s eye view of the match.
NICK JACKSON: Wouldn’t bird’s eye be from above?
MATT JACKSON: A bird’s eye view but the bird is standing on the ground.
NICK JACKSON: I guess that’s fine.
MATT JACKSON: So we’re gonna go wash our hands and get ready to see some tag team action up close and personal tonight!
NICK JACKSON: Cathy, we’ll see you out there!
Nick and Matt leave the interview area.
CATHY KELLEY: Well, not really. I mean…I’m kind of the backstage interviewer. Wade, Michael, back to you guys!
MICHAEL COLE: Sounds like The Young Bucks are going to be joining us later tonight, partner!
WADE BARRETT: I love those guys, I can't wait!
MICHAEL COLE: #DIY versus Authors of Pain is certainly going to be interesting, but that's not the only tag team action we have for you all tonight. Coming up next, CM Punk comes home!
The fans are all standing on their feet, knowing full well what is about to happen. There's a tension in the air that is palpable. The static to CM Punk's intro cuts through that tension and the crowd explodes as "The Cult of Personality" by Living Colour hits the sound system. Lights in the arena flash red and blue as the Chicago crowd is whipped into a frenzy. Bursting through the curtains first is Stevie Richards, who is clearly feeling the energy from this crowd here tonight. After a few moments, CM Punk walks out onto the entrance ramp and the roof of the Allstate Arena is blown right off.
WADE BARRETT: It's a raucous ovation for CM Punk in Chicago!
MICHAEL COLE: And don't forget Stevie!
Punk takes a second to kneel down at the top of the entrance ramp. All of the fans in Chicago yell "IT'S CLOBBERING TIME" with Punk who springs up to his feet and yells loudly, beating his chest in the process. Punk is fired up for his return to the squared circle in Chicago!
The crowd chants "CM PUNK'' loudly, as Punk begins his trot down the ramp, talking with Stevie the entire time. After the "CM PUNK" chants subside, Punk helps direct a "STEVIE" chant, which brings a huge smile to the face of the grizzled veteran. The two slap hands with fans along the entrance ramp.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is a Tag Team match! Making their way to the ring, the team of Stevie Richards and... CM Punk!!
Samantha Irvin's announcement makes the crowd pop even louder, and we see Punk and Richards climb up to the top rope, hitting a quick pose before hopping into the ring and taking their corner. The camera swings around to reveal Claudio and Hero standing in the opposite corner.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: And their opponents, already in the ring - Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero - The Kings of Wrestling!
The Kings strike a quick pose towards hard cam, before retreating back to their corner to discuss some strategy and Hero enters for his team. On the other side of the ring, Punk has already stepped to the apron and Richards is starting things out for his team. The referee calls for the bell and this one is underway.
TAG TEAM MATCH
Stevie and Hero circle around the ring before locking up in the center of the ring. They jockey for position, but it's Hero who snatches a headlock onto Richards. Stevie looks to battle his way free, and pushes Hero into the ropes. He shoots him off and Hero goes flying into the opposite ropes. Richards executes a drop down and Hero hops over him and hits the other side of the ring. He rebounds off and this time, Stevie leapfrogs over the charging Chris Hero. Hero stumbles into the other ropes and has built up a ton of momentum now. Stevie sees him coming and delivers a perfect leg lariat that sends Hero crashing down to the mat, clutching his chest. He scurries back to his corner and tags in Claudio, who rolls his neck and flexes his pecs in an effort to intimidate Richards. Stevie charges at Claudio, but The Swiss Superman sidesteps him. Richards rebounds off the ropes and looks to score with a huge crossbody, but Claudio catches him! He parades him around the ring for a second, before transitioning into a vertical suplex in an impressive feat of strength! Claudio holds Stevie upright for a few seconds, before Stevie wiggles free and lands on his feet and slips behind Claudio. Richards clutches Claudio by the waist and drives him into his corner, where CM Punk tags in to a huge ovation from the crowd.
Stevie and Punk grab Claudio out of the corner and whip him across the ring. When Claudio bounces back, the tandem of Punk and Stevie hit a pair of dropkicks that would make The Rockers blush. Richards rolls out of the ring, and we see Claudio throw a wild clothesline at Punk, who grabs his arm and spins Claudio out into a neck-breaker! Claudio staggers up to his feet and finds himself in a neutral corner, right in the crosshairs of CM Punk. Punk runs and delivers a huge step up knee in the corner, followed by his trademark bulldog, which sends Chicago into a frenzy. Punk calls for Claudio to make his way up to his feet, stalking him for something big. As soon as Claudio turns around, he drills him with a roundhouse kick to the side of the head! Claudio staggers and Punk hoists him up on his shoulders! All of Chicago knows what is coming next .. but so does Chris Hero! He rushes in .. but so goes Stevie - who connects with a Stevie Kick that DRILLS Chris Hero right under the chin! Punk drops Claudio down onto his knee and hits the GO 2 SLEEP! Chicago pops as Claudio crumbles, and Punk hooks the leg. Our referee goes to count. 1 .. 2 .. 3! This one is over and Punk and Stevie are victorious in their return to Chicago!
WINNER
CM PUNK & STEVIE RICHARDS
04:19 via PINFALL
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here are your winners, STEVIE RICHARDS AND CM PUNK!
WADE BARRETT: A storybook ending to CM Punk's homecoming here in Chicago. Punk and Richards are victorious here tonight, and the Second City will be celebrating here tonight!
MICHAEL COLE: You would have to imagine that Punk and Richards just put their names firmly in the Tag Team title scene. And with the Tag Titles set to be decided at Night of Champions, that might have proven to be a massive win for CM Punk and Stevie Richards here tonight!
The cameras go backstage where Logan Paul is seen walking towards the camera with a nice grin looking to his left and right.
MICHAEL COLE: Logan Paul is here in Chicago!
WADE BARRETT: That’s former United States Champion Logan Paul to you, Cole.
MICHAEL COLE: It’s our first time seeing Logan Paul in action in the new era of the WWE!
Logan notices to his left something interesting.
He stops as the camera pans to the left. From right to left, the plain grey wall then reveals a sign that says ”General Manager’s Office” and just beyond that is the doorway revealing WWE General Manager, William Regal, reading a message on his phone. He looks up from his phone to find Logan Paul standing directly in front of him.
WILLIAM REGAL: Mr. Logan Paul. How nice to see you here on Monday Night RAW.
Logan Paul and William Regal shake hands in the middle of the General Manager’s office, both smiling with confidence. William Regal being the powerful General Manager, and Logan Paul having the look of a young superstar that thinks he can do anything.
LOGAN PAUL: Mr. Regal! Thank you. It’s nice to see you. Seriously, I want you to know it's such an honor to be here on Monday Night Raw. When I suggested that it would be better to have me on Monday Night Raw - you know being a massive star - it would just be a better business decision to have me on the flagship show, I didn’t think they would throw the entire Smackdown roster away...
The crowd quiets down to hear them talk but they wake up with light boos as Logan goes on.
LOGAN PAUL: Whatever is best for business though, right? Look, Mr. Regal… I think there was a mistake, too. I told Triple H I would come to Monday Night RAW, I didn’t say I would come to Chicago.
William Regal is looking at Logan Paul as if he can’t believe what he’s hearing, or that he’s misguided. He’s now holding his hands on his hips. Logan Paul looks a little confused too but then he starts laughing
LOGAN PAUL: So how does this work? The winner of the tournament faces me for the WWE Championship?
William Regal lifts his chin up and laughs with Logan.
WILLIAM REGAL: Logan. You know as well as I do that you’re not in the WWE Championship Tournament.
Logan looks devastated as if a rocket ship took off inside of his head while he’s putting together the pieces of information.
WILLIAM REGAL: Not to worry Mr. Paul. I’m sure that you’ll make a statement in your match tonight against some of the very best competitors that this industry has ever seen. And while that match will have nothing to do with the WWE Championship, it’s an opportunity to stand out amongst the competition. And to that point, since you are the former United States Champion, I would like to extend an invitation to the Battle Royal to crown a new Intercontinental Champion at Night of Champions. That is, of course, if you can fit in your busy schedule, young man?
Logan Paul looks stressed and upset.
LOGAN PAUL: I’ll get back to you…
With a sigh, Logan leaves Regal’s office, leaving the General Manager to watch him leave with a shake of his head as the cameras then take us to the office of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. They’re talking amongst themselves, the audio of which isn’t being picked up, but suddenly a knock is heard at the door, drawing both of their attention in that direction.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Come in!
The door opens and the camera pans over to reveal one of the newest signings to WWE, Chelsea Green. The crowd can be heard booing as Chelsea looks at Stephanie and Triple H with a smile.
CHELSEA GREEN: Stephanie. Hunter. It’s so good to see you guys.
Triple H takes in a deep breath before he responds.
TRIPLE H: It’s nice to see you too, Chelsea. How can we help you?
CHELSEA GREEN: I’m so glad you asked! Now, obviously I’m thrilled to be back in the WWE, and I have every intention of making my way to the top of the women’s division. That being said, I’ve heard about the fatal four-way match for the WWE Women’s Championship at Night of Champions, and it seems as though there’s still an open spot in that match. I was thinking, putting me in that match would be a nice little “signing bonus”, don’t you think?
Triple H smirks for a moment as he looks at Stephanie and then back to Chelsea.
TRIPLE H: I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’re not exactly handing out championships around here, Chelsea. If you want a shot to get in the match, I’m sure there’s something that could be arranged, but you’ll need to earn it like everybody else does. If I simply let you get in the match as a “signing bonus”, I’d have to give everybody a bonus like that now wouldn’t I?
Chelsea scoffs.
CHELSEA GREEN: Oh come on, you know there’s nobody else like me on the roster! They aren’t worthy of a signing bonus!
Now Stephanie comes forward, standing by her husband.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Be that as it may, I have to agree with my husband. Championship matches have to be earned. Now, unfortunately, the last qualifying match for the WWE Women’s Championship match has already been booked for next week - -
CHELSEA GREEN: What?!
TRIPLE H: It has?
Triple H looks at Stephanie curiously as she nods.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: We had a couple of other new signees finalize their deals shortly before Chelsea, Cora Jade and Blair Davenport. I decided to put them in the final qualifying match since Candice LeRae is out sick right now.
Triple H raises his eyebrows curiously.
TRIPLE H: Cora Jade and Blair Davenport? Nice. That should be interesting.
CHELSEA GREEN: That’s all well and good, but what about me?!
Stephanie and Triple H both sigh as they turn their attention back to Chelsea.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Well, since the opportunity to qualify for the WWE Women’s Championship match is no longer available…we are going to be having a match for the brand new Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Much like the Intercontinental Championship for the men, this match is going to be an open invitation style of match so if you’d like to participate in that match, you’re certainly more than welcome to do so.
Chelsea thinks this over for a moment.
CHELSEA GREEN: So, you’re telling me I could compete for a completely new championship…and have a chance to make history?
Stephanie nods.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: That’s correct.
Chelsea breaks out into another big smile.
CHELSEA GREEN: Count me in!
Chelsea reaches out to shake hands with both Triple H and Stephanie, and they each accept with a smile. Suddenly, the door to the office bursts open and everyone turns to look as Chelsea’s husband, Matt Cardona, steps into the frame.
MATT CARDONA: Babe, what the hell? Why did you ditch me in catering?
CHELSEA GREEN: Uh, because I had important things to tend to, hello! Besides, the food looked kinda sucky anyway.
She quickly turns to look at Stephanie and Triple H apologetically.
CHELSEA GREEN: No offense.
MATT CARDONA: Well, you missed out. They had some awesome pepperoni pizza out there. I had three pieces and I kinda want to go back for more!
Stephanie and Triple H both clear their throats.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: As fun as this is…
TRIPLE H: We’ve got some things we need to discuss, the two of you can find your way out I’m sure.
CHELSEA GREEN: Right, of course. Come on, Matt, let’s go!
Chelsea takes Matt by the arm and begins to lead him out, but he breaks away from her and turns his attention back to Stephanie and Triple H.
MATT CARDONA: You know, since I’m here…I heard about that open invitation battle royal for the Intercontinental Championship. While my goal is obviously the WWE Championship, getting the IC belt around my waist again wouldn’t be a shabby way to get back into the fold. Any chance I can get in on that?
Stephanie and Triple H turn to each other once again and shrug their shoulders before turning their attention back to the Cardonas.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Now normally, that would have to go through William Regal…
TRIPLE H: You’re in! I’ll tell Regal myself, just please get out of our office.
MATT CARDONA: Awesome! Thanks a million, bro. Er…I mean…
TRIPLE H: OUT!
His eyes growing wide, Cardona turns and pushes past his wife, hurrying out of the office. Chelsea looks at Stephanie and Triple H nervously, and Triple H simply points to the door, and she hurries off as well. Once they’re gone, Stephanie chuckles and puts an arm around Triple H’s waist as he just sighs and shakes his head and the cameras go back to ringside.
MICHAEL COLE: Things in the WWE are going to be a lot more interesting with Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green around, Wade!
WADE BARRETT: I think they’re a breath of fresh air, personally. I love a couple that isn’t afraid to go after what they want!
MICHAEL COLE: They definitely weren’t shy about asking for title shots, that’s for sure! But it worked out in their favor, as Matt Cardona is going to be added to the Intercontinental Championship battle royal and Chelsea Green is going to be involved in the match for the new Women’s Intercontinental Championship! Not only that, but we found out that Cora Jade will face Blair Davenport for the final spot in the Women’s Championship fatal four-way match!
WADE BARRETT: A big opportunity on the line there for both Jade and LeRae, I can’t wait to see who earns that final spot!
MICHAEL COLE: We’ll find out in just seven days, partner, but right now we’re going to find out another participant in that fatal four-way match. Coming up next we have Serena Deeb taking on Tiffany Stratton!
”Switchblade” by NJPW hits the speakers and the crowd begins to cheer as Serena Deeb makes her way out from the back. Looking out at the crowd confidently, Serena begins to make her way down the ramp, outstretching her arms as she continues to look confident about the upcoming match.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Making her way to the ring, The Assassin, Sereeenaaa Deeeeeb!
MICHAEL COLE: Serena Deeb looking incredibly focused as she gets ready for her first match since returning to the WWE under this new era!
WADE BARRETT: With an opportunity to compete for the Women’s Championship on the line, Serena is no doubt looking to make the most of this opportunity and prove that she should’ve been given these same opportunities all those years ago!
Serena gets to the bottom of the ramp and she goes up the steel steps, wiping her boots on the apron before stepping into the ring. She walks to the center and outstretches her arms again, the confident look not wavering. She takes off the robe she’s wearing and hands it to a ringside attendant before she begins to move her arms around to warm up. Just then, “Keep Up” by def rebel hits the speakers and the crowd begins to boo as the lights dim and a spotlight shines on the top of the ramp. After a moment, Tiffany Stratton comes out and steps into the spotlight, striking a pose for the booing crowd. The lights come up, and Tiffany begins making her way down to the ring, tossing her hair arrogantly as she talks smack to the crowd.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: And her opponent, The Buff Barbie, Tiffanyyy Straaatooon!
MICHAEL COLE: Tiffany Stratton is also looking incredibly confident coming into this match tonight.
WADE BARRETT: And why shouldn’t she? She’s aligned herself with one of the greatest women of all time in Trish Stratus, surely she’s managed to pick up a thing or two from being around such greatness!
Tiffany reaches the bottom of the ramp and she walks to the side of the ring, hopping up onto the ring apron and striking another pose. Entering the ring, she takes off her sunglasses and eyes Serena Deeb with a look of disgust as she walks over to the ropes and hands her sunglasses off to a ringside attendant. She then turns and smirks at Serena Deeb, giving her a mocking wave as her music begins to fade out.
SINGLES MATCH
The bell rings and Serena Deeb starts to go towards Tiffany Stratton, eager to get her hands on The Buff Barbie, but Stratton pulls the referee in front of her as a shield, stating that she’s not ready yet. The referee tells Deeb to back off, and she does, despite being visibly frustrated at this tactic from Stratton. The referee moves away from Stratton and says the match can get underway now, but when Serena walks closer, Tiffany leans half of her body outside of the ring, insisting she’s still not ready which elicits loud boos from the Chicago crowd. Serena puts her hands on her hips, clearly not impressed with what Stratton is pulling, and asks what the holdup is. Tiffany leans back into the ring and starts primping her hair, stating she can’t wrestle with any hair out of place.
MICHAEL COLE: Tiffany Stratton keeps stalling here, and Serena Deeb looks rather frustrated about that!
WADE BARRETT: Tiffany might want to watch it, Serena Deeb isn’t someone you want to make too angry!
Serena turns to the referee and asks him if this is really how things are going to go. While she’s talking to him, though, Stratton runs up behind her and rolls her up with a surprise schoolgirl pin! 1…Serena immediately kicks out! Tiffany screams “REALLY?!” at the referee but quickly gets to her feet and begins stomping away at The Assassin. Picking Serena up, Tiffany throws her into the corner before walking over to the opposite corner, before launching herself into a cartwheel to start her momentum to nail Deeb with a back handspring elbow! Serena falls to the mat from the impact and Tiffany covers her again, hooking the leg. 1…2…NO! Serena kicks out!
MICHAEL COLE: Tiffany’s trying to end this one as quick as possible!
WADE BARRETT: That’s what you need to do with an opponent like Serena Deeb. The longer you’re in there with her, the more chances you’re giving her to figure out how to best strike you down!
Gritting her teeth, Tiffany grabs Serena by the hair and begins to pick her up, but Deeb nails her with a shot to the midsection! And then another one! Tiffany lets go of Serena’s hair, doubling over from the shots. Deeb grabs Stratton around the waist and lifts her in the air, driving her into the mat with a Northern Lights Suplex! Deeb keeps a hold on Stratton and bridges into a pin. 1…2…THRNOOO!! Stratton kicks out at the last second!
MICHAEL COLE: Serena Deeb almost had it there!
WADE BARRETT: Deeb may be The Assassin, but Stratton is determined to reach the “Tiffy Top” of the women’s division and she’s not going to go down so easily!
Serena stands up, frustrated that she wasn’t able to put Stratton away with that. As Stratton starts to stir, Serena picks her up and throws her into the ropes. However, on the comeback, Stratton looks to hit Deeb with a clothesline, but The Assassin ducks the move, and once she’s behind Stratton, she grabs her around the waist, lifts her in the air and spins her around, bringing her down hard to the mat with a Blue Thunder Bomb! Rather than going for the pin, however, Deeb floats over to one of Stratton’s prone arms, quickly grabbing it and locking in an Armbar! Stratton is screaming and writhing in pain as Deeb has the armbar fully locked in. She struggles to get to the ropes, but they’re too far away as they’re in the dead center of the ring, and with one final scream, Stratton begins to slap her hand wildly against the mat to tap out! Serena Deeb wins!
WINNER
SERENA DEEB
03:49 via SUBMISSION
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here is your winner…The Assassin, SEREEENAAA DEEEEEB!
MICHAEL COLE: What a win here tonight for Serena Deeb!
WADE BARRETT: She ended up making rather short work of Tiffany Stratton, reminding everyone just why she’s called The Assassin!
MICHAEL COLE: And she joins Carmella and Fallon Henley in the fatal four-way elimination match at Night of Champions. That’s shaping up to be quite the match!
WADE BARRETT: I hope both of those ladies were watching, and I hope both Cora Jade and Blair Davenport were watching as well. I have a feeling Serena Deeb is going to be the one to watch in that fatal four-way.
Standing up from the mat, Serena dusts her hands off as if to say “that was too easy” before having her hand raised in the air by the referee. As the crowd cheers her on, Serena climbs up onto the second turnbuckle and points out to the fans, before raising her arms triumphantly into the air. Hopping back down to the mat, she looks at Stratton with an amused smirk before stepping out of the ring, hopping off the apron and making her way up the ramp to the back. In the ring, Stratton is sitting up, holding her arm and whining to the referee about the pain she’s in as the cameras go to commercial.
Tune in next week as we make our final stop on the road to Night of Champions!
