Night of Champions
March 24, 2024
Madison Square Garden
New York, New York
As the opening video package ends, pyro explodes on the stage as the crowd in New York City is erupting in cheers. The cameras pan through the crowd, showing off various signs reading things like “CM Punk Best in the World”, “KO 4 IC Champ”, “Becky Lynch is The Man” and more. After doing a pan of the historic Madison Square Garden, the cameras settle in on the commentary table where we see the team of Michael Cole and Wade Barrett.
MICHAEL COLE: Ladies and gentlemen, we are LIVE from the historic Madison Square Garden for our first Premium Live Event of the new era! Welcome to Night of Champions!
WADE BARRETT: We’re in for one hell of a night, Cole, we’re about to find out who has what it takes to rise to the top and represent the WWE in the new era as the champions and I can’t wait!
MICHAEL COLE: I can’t either, partner! We’ve got a ton of great matches on tap including a triple threat match to determine the first ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion!
WADE BARRETT: That’s going to be an exciting one, but I think that the triple threat TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Championships is going to be the one to steal the show!
MICHAEL COLE: It very well might, but don’t forget the explosive main event we have to look forward to, Wade! Gable Steveson and Swerve Strickland going head to head to determine the first WWE Champion of the new era!
WADE BARRETT: I’ll be honest, Cole, I think every match tonight has the potential to be a show stealer!
Suddenly, “King of Kings” by Motörhead begins to play over the speakers and the crowd goes wild with cheers as the owners of the WWE, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, come out from the back. With their arms outstretched, the power couple look absolutely ecstatic to be in Madison Square Garden as they begin to make their way down the ramp.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen please welcome, the owners of WWE, Stephanie McMahon and Triiipllle H!
MICHAEL COLE: We’re kicking off the show with our owners, they have to be feeling very excited that we’ve reached this monumental point, Wade!
WADE BARRETT: They should be excited but more importantly, they should be proud! It’s not easy running a company as successful as WWE!
Stephanie and Triple H reach the bottom of the ramp and Triple H goes up the steel steps first, pausing on the apron and holding the ropes open for Stephanie and she makes her way up the steps behind him. Pausing to give him a kiss, Stephanie enters the ring and Triple H follows close behind her. Approaching Samantha Irvin, Stephanie asks for the microphone and Samantha hands it to her with a smile before exiting the ring, as Triple H asks for a second microphone from a ringside attendant. Going to the center of the ring, the two of them look out at the crowd with big, beaming smiles and as the music fades out and the cheers start to subside, Stephanie raises her microphone up to her mouth and begins to speak.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Welcome, everyone, to Night of Champions!
The crowd once again erupts into loud cheers, and Stephanie pauses as she looks to the crowd with the smile still plastered on her face. After a moment, the cheering once again dies down and she continues.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: We are so excited to be here tonight in front of all of you. This is going to be a historic night, and there’s no better place to make history than Madison Square Garden!
As Stephanie lowers her microphone, Triple H raises his respective microphone up and begins to address the crowd.
TRIPLE H: Madison Square Garden isn’t just one of the best arenas for World Wrestling Entertainment, but for sports as a whole. History had been made in these very halls for decades over and over again. Tonight, tonight will be no different because Night of Champions will be the first of our Premium Live Events and we will make history by crowning not just a WWE Champion, but each of the first champions in this new era. Champions including the first ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion, and the WWE Tag Team Champions. So I guess the only thing left to ask is, Madison Square Garden…are you ready?
Triple H smirks as the fans go crazy at the iconic line. As the cheers die down, Triple H continues on.
TRIPLE H: Then let’s get this show on the road! Samantha Irvin, if you could please come back in the ring, we’ll get you your microphone back. And we’re going to kick things off with the fatal four-way elimination match for the WWE Women’s Championship!
Triple H lowers the microphone as Samantha Irvin comes back into the ring and he hands it off to her. As she goes to stand in her position to get ready to announce the first match of the night. Triple H and Stephanie nod and wave to the fans as “King of Kings” begins to play on the speakers again and Triple H once again holds the ropes open for Stephanie as she exits the ring and he follows behind her. They make their way up the ramp to the back and as they leave, the music transitions to “Switchblade” by NJPW and the crowd cheers as Bullet Club Red member Serena Deeb makes her way out from the back. Looking out at the crowd with a serious expression on her face, Serena begins to confidently stride towards the ring, a small smile creeping on her face.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: The following contest is a fatal four-way elimination match, and it is for the WWE Women’s Championship! Introducing first, representing The Bullet Club Red, The Assassin, Sereeenaaa Deeeb!
MICHAEL COLE: Serena Deeb is looking very confident as she approaches the ring tonight!
WADE BARRETT: As she should, Cole, she earned her way into this match after a dominant display over Tiffany Stratton a couple of weeks ago and I imagine she’s looking to make another dominant display in this fatal four-way!
Reaching the bottom of the ramp, Serena goes up the steel steps and she steps inside the ring, going to the center and raising her arms out to her side as she remains the picture of confidence. Removing her robe, she walks over to the ropes and hands it off to a ringside attendant as “Fabulous” by CFO$ begins to play over the speakers and the crowd now begins to boo as Carmella makes her way out to the top of the ramp. Looking around at the booing crowd with an arrogant smirk she mockingly points a finger out towards the crowd before making her way down to the ring.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: And her opponents, first, making her way to the ring, The Staten Island Princess, Carmelllaaa!
MICHAEL COLE: Speaking of confidence, Carmella is looking pretty confident herself! I figured she might have some hesitations about stepping into the ring with someone like Serena Deeb.
WADE BARRETT: Why should she, Cole? She got into this match by getting a victory over The Juggernaut Jordynne Grace on the very first episode of RAW!
As she gets to the bottom of the ramp, Carmella gives a mocking wave to Serena Deeb who’s waiting for her in the ring, before she hops up onto the apron, striking a suggestive pose for the crowd. She rolls under the bottom rope and effortlessly glides up to her feet, walking to the center of the ring and striking another pose before walking over to a corner and shooting a smirk over in Serena’s direction. As her music fades out, “Saddle Up” by def rebel begins to play on the speakers and the crowd cheers once again as Fallon Henley makes her way out from the back. Looking down at the opponens already in the ring, Fallon gives a determined nod and begins to make her way down to the ring.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Next, making her way to the ring, Fallooonnn Heeenleeey!
MICHAEL COLE: Fallon Henley is considered the underdog here tonight, Wade, but she looks ready to prove herself!
WADE BARRETT: She had that big win over Toni Storm and Nia Jax, but a lot of people are saying that was sheer dumb luck! This is her chance to prove she has what it takes in the big leagues!
Pausing at the bottom of the ramp, Fallon takes a deep breath before walking over to the steel steps, marching up to the apron and stepping inside of the ring. Keeping an eye on both of her opponents, Fallon marches over to the ropes and steps on the bottom rope as she looks out at the crowd, the look of determination deep on her face.
Stepping off of the bottom rope, Fallon swings her arms back and forth as she gets settled into another corner. Suddenly…
Shhh! It’s Chelsea!
“Hot Mess” by def rebel begins to play on the speakers and the crowd once again begins to boo as Chelsea Green makes her way to the top of the ramp and does her signature “shh” pose. Soaking in the boos from the crowd, Chelsea begins to make her way down to the ring with a big smile on her face.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: And, from Victoria, BC, Chelseeea Greeeeeen!
MICHAEL COLE: Now Chelsea Green is the wild card in this one, Wade, she didn’t earn her spot like the other three women.
WADE BARRETT: She didn’t need to, Cole! Stephanie and Triple H recognized her greatness straight away and knew that it was best for business to make sure she was included in this match!
As she gets to the bottom of the ramp, Chelsea walks over to the side of the ring and hops up onto the apron, putting her hand on her hip as she arrogantly looks out to the crowd. After a moment, she steps inside of the ring, taking off her hat and her tutu as she hands them to a ringside attendant and makes her way to the only free corner, talking trash to all of her opponents as she does. As she reaches her corner, her music fades out and all four women start to wearily look at one another.
FATAL FOUR-WAY ELIMINATION MATCH
As the bell rings, all four women start to slowly come out of their respective corners. They all kind of just look at each other for a moment before suddenly, Carmella springs into action, going after Serena Deeb with a forearm to the face! Seeing this and not taking any chances, Fallon Henley charges at Chelsea Green, taking her down with a spear! As those two ladies roll around brawling on the mat, Carmella delivers another forearm to the face of The Assassin, and then another! Carmella now has Deeb backed into the corner, and she delivers a stomp to the abdomen before following up with a second one, causing Deeb to crumple down into a seated position. With a confident smirk, Carmella cockily moonwalks to the center of the ring before charging at Serena and nailing her with a Bronco Buster! With The Assassin down on the mat, Carmella drags her away from the ropes and goes for the cover, looking to get the first elimination of the match. 1…2…kick out by Serena Deeb!
MICHAEL COLE: Carmella looking to get a quick elimination, but Serena Deeb manages to hang in there!
WADE BARRETT: Both of these women want the gold, Cole, and they’ll do everything in their power to stay in this match!
Giving the referee a dirty look, Carmella stands up and bends down, grabbing Serena by the hair. She starts to pull The Assassin up, but Serena surprises The Staten Island Princess with a shot to the midsection, causing Carmella to let go of Serena’s hair and double over in surprise! With Carmella bent over, Serena slides her head in under Carmella’s arm before lifting her up into the air and driving her down to the mat with a Northern Lights Suplex! Carmella is now clutching at her back in pain, and Serena stands back up, looking satisfied at the scene in front of her. Delivering a stomp to Carmella’s midsection, Serena goes over to the corner and climbs up onto the second rope and then leaps off, landing with a leg drop across the throat of Carmella! With Carmella gasping for air, Serena goes for the cover 1..2..THRNOOO! Carmella kicks out at the last second!
MICHAEL COLE: I thought Serena might’ve had it there!
WADE BARRETT: I did too, Cole, but we both know that Carmella is very resourceful and won’t go down without a fight!
Looking down at Carmella with a smirk, Serena reaches down and grabs The Staten Island Princess by the hair, lifting her up and putting her head between her legs. Hooking each arm, Serena lifts Carmella into the air, and then drives her back down into the mat with the Deebtox! Carmella looks to be completely out of it now as Serena rolls her over onto her back and goes for the cover again. 1…2…3! Carmella’s out!
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Carmella has been eliminated!
MICHAEL COLE: Carmella didn’t last much longer after all, Wade! I guess this wasn’t her night!
WADE BARRETT: She’s been robbed, Cole! This is an absolute travesty, we need justice for Carmella!
Carmella is coming to as she realizes she’s been eliminated, and she starts throwing a tantrum, shrieking and yelling “are you KIDDING me?!” to the referee. The referee stands his ground and tells her that she’s been eliminated and therefore, needs to exit the ring. Rolling her eyes, Carmella flips her hair in the referee’s face before turning and exiting the ring, making her way up the ramp to the back. Serena Deeb watches this all go down with a smirk, before turning her attention to her other two opponents. Chelsea Green has Fallon Henley down in the corner and is choking her out with her boot, and the referee is now admonishing her for this behavior. Before the referee can begin his five count, though, Serena walks over and grabs The Hot Mess by her hair and pulls her away from Henley! Chelsea screams in surprise as she turns to look and see who has her by the hair and her eyes grow wide as she sees it’s The Assassin. Serena lets go of Chelsea’s hair but grabs her by the arm, throwing her into the corner opposite of where Fallon Henley is currently seated gasping for breath. Putting her hands up in front of her as if she’s sizing Chelsea up, Serena runs for her, but at the last second, Green moves out of the way, causing Deeb to crash into the turnbuckles! Clutching at her chest, Serena’s face is scrunched up in pain from the mishap but she doesn’t have time to get her bearings before Chelsea Green turns her around and begins stomping away at her midsection! Serena crumples down to the ground like she did earlier with Carmella, seated much like Fallon Henley still is in the opposite corner. With a cocky grin, Chelsea Green begins to choke Serena out just like she had been doing to Henley! The referee once again begins to admonish The Hot Mess for her actions, but this time he begins the five count! 1…2…3…4…Chelsea Green takes her foot off of Deeb’s neck, holding her hands up defensively as she backs away with a devious smile.
MICHAEL COLE: Chelsea Green with some underhanded tactics against her opponents!
WADE BARRETT: Sometimes that’s what you have to do if you want to be a champion, Cole! You have to dig deep into your bag of tricks!
With both opponents now down in different corners, Chelsea Green is clearly feeling confident. Looking at Fallon Henley with a devious gleam in her eye, Chelsea runs towards her, hitting her in the head with a huge running knee, causing Fallon to fall flat on the mat! Laughing at her actions, Chelsea turns her attention to the opposite corner where Serena is slumped down. Looking for a repeat, Chelsea charges towards Serena, but much like she did to The Assassin just a few moments ago, Serena moves out of the way and Green crashes into the corner! Screaming and clutching her side, The Hot Mess looks over at Serena Deeb with anger in her eyes. She walks towards Deeb looking to do some kind of damage, but before she can do anything, Deeb takes her down with a drop toe hold! With Green down on the mat, Serena hurries to her feet before grabbing Chelsea by the hair, quickly throwing her head between her legs, hooking each arm and then lifting her up and back down to the mat with another Deebtox! With Chelsea dazed, Serena hurries and makes the cover, 1…2…3!! Chelsea Green is out of here!
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Chelsea Green has been eliminated!
MICHAEL COLE: Serena Deeb is really clearing house, Wade!
WADE BARRETT: She’s an absolute machine, Cole, it’s just a shame she doesn’t seem to have much going on for her in the personality department.
MICHAEL COLE: Say what you want, Wade, but I think she’s showing plenty of personality. Being The Assassin is her personality, and she’s proving that by taking her opponents out one by one!
We’re now down to two, Serena Deeb and Fallon Henley. Henley is getting to her feet after the assault from Chelsea Green, realizing she’s made it to the final two of the match. Serena watches her stand up with an intense gaze, giving Fallon a nod before extending her hand out for a handshake. Fallon looks wearily at the outstretched hand for a moment but she ends up taking it and the fans cheer as the two ladies shake hands.
MICHAEL COLE: Great display of sportsmanship here by these two ladies!
WADE BARRETT: That’s all well and good, Cole, but sportsmanship isn’t going to win either of them the title! They should save that for after the match.
After the handshake, the two circle around each other for a moment, not really sure how to proceed. They then lockup into a collar and elbow tie up, jockeying for control. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, it’s Fallon Henley who gets the better of the exchange, grabbing Serena’s arm and wrenching it into a twisting wristlock! Serena cries out at the move and tries to escape but Fallon applies more pressure to the move before throwing Serena towards the ropes! On the comeback, Serena looks to surprise Fallon with a clothesline but Henley ducks the attempt, causing Serena to keep going to the other side of the ropes. On that comeback, Fallon brings The Assassin down to the mat with an Armdrag! Her confidence building, Fallon hits the ropes and when she comes back she jumps in the air, coming down on Deeb with a Leg Drop. Hearing the crowd cheer and rally behind her, Fallon stands up, nodding her head confidently and smiling. Reaching down, she picks Serena up by her hair and then throws her into the corner. Fallon then runs up to Deeb, leaping up onto her and bringing her down with a Monkey Flip! Her confidence soaring, Fallon covers Serena and hooks the leg, 1…2…kick out by Serena Deeb!
MICHAEL COLE: Fallon Henley is really bringing the fight to Serena Deeb here!
WADE BARRETT: I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting that, Cole, but like I said earlier, Fallon is determined to prove that her being in this match is no fluke!
Fallon goes down to pick Serena back up but suddenly, Serena surprises Fallon with a small package roll up! 1…2…THRNOOO! Fallon kicks out at the last second! Both women are quick to their feet, and Serena gives a small smirk as she taps the side of her head. Fallon returns the smirk and the two immediately go into another lock up. This time, Serena is the one who gets the advantage as she gets Fallon into a headlock. As she wrenches the headlock tight, Fallon finds the strength to lift Serena in the air and bring her down to the mat with a side suplex! Quickly getting to her feet, Fallon picks Serena up and goes to throw her into the ropes again, but Serena holds onto Fallon’s arm and turns around, kicking her in the midsection! With Fallon doubled over, Serena quickly throws her head between her legs, hooks both of her arms and lifts her up and brings her down with the Deebtox! With Fallon on the mat, Serena rolls her over and hooks the leg, 1…2…3!!! Serena Deeb wins the match!

SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here is your winner, and the NEEEWWW WWE Women’s Champion, The Assassin SEREEENAAA DEEEB!
MICHAEL COLE: Serena Deeb has done it! She’s the new WWE Women’s Champion!
WADE BARRETT: She completely dominated this match tonight, Cole, and I have a feeling she’s going to be holding on to that championship for a long time to come!
Standing up, Serena is overcome with emotion as the referee hands her the WWE Women’s Championship and raises her arm into the air. The crowd is on their feet as Serena triumphantly raises the Women’s Championship into the air, before lowering it and holding it with both hands, looking down at it as if she can’t believe it’s really hers. She then turns her attention to Fallon Henley who is starting to stir and reaches down, helping her to her feet. Giving her another handshake, she raises Fallon’s arm into the air and points at her, encouraging the crowd to acknowledge Henley’s efforts tonight.
MICHAEL COLE: A very classy display here from the new Women’s Champion!
WADE BARRETT: Fallon Henley really brought the fight to Serena Deeb tonight, and though she may not have walked out with the gold I think it’s safe to say she’s proven she deserves her place in the big leagues!
Giving Serena a smile and a nod, Fallon turns and heads out of the ring and begins making her way up the ramp. Serena stands in the center of the ring, soaking in the response from the crowd as she raises the Women’s Championship into the air once again and pyro goes off from the stage. After another moment, Serena makes her way to the ropes and exits the ring, as Switchblade Jay White comes down the ramp, a big smile on his face as he claps for his Bullet Club Red teammate. He reaches the bottom of the ramp and the two friends hug, before heading up the ramp towards the back.
The cameras now go backstage where we see the darkened image of a man with a microphone in his hand as he walks down the hallway coming into the light. As he lifts his head for the camera, he's also lifting the microphone close to his mouth.
MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN: I made my way here finally; one of the longest journeys of my life was to get to World Wrestling Entertainment. I had to rebuild myself to become the man you see before you today. Blood, sweat, and tears weren't enough to get me back here, though. No, I had to endure things no man should at quite a young age. Twelve years ago, it was all just a dream for me as I sat and rewatched the legendary Roddy Piper become one of the biggest stars. I had to get myself into the right mindset; I didn't have the focus that I needed to become the man I am today. So I fought, clawed, punched, kicked, and even cheated my way to becoming what the fans all call "The Devil" that you see before you today.
He stops for a moment as he runs his hand over his slick hair to brush it back and take a breath.
MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN: Tonight, I'm going to put the rest of this company on notice. Every superstar that has come crawling back, every superstar that has been begging for opportunities—all of you are going to want to keep your eyes out for me. Because my focus is no longer wavering, my determination is unmatched, and I'm looking for some fights. I'm going to put every man in my path down, and I'm going to enjoy it.
A grin starts spreading over his face as he winks at the camera.
MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN: So whether you are at the bottom of the mountain or standing atop it, be prepared for me. I don't make promises that I can't keep; I don't hide from a fight; and I'm not averse to doing what's necessary to take whatever I want. Whether you become the WWE Intercontinental Champion, or the WWE Champion— I've already got spots for them to go up on my wall and it won't be that hard to take them, and there's nothing that will stop me from doing so. Whether they want to call this the "New Era" or the "Renaissance Era," I'll make sure that the name Maxwell Jacob Friedman is the one everyone remembers leading the charge in it. I want to be a legend; I don't want to be just another name in a long line of superstars. I want to be a man that everyone remembers. I want to be THE man everyone remembers. It'll only start after I've done what needs to be done to get this company to heights it's never seen before. I'm going to do things that nobody forgets to get there, so if you want to survive, I'd recommend staying out of my way.
His nostrils flare as he stares into the camera and gets a more sinister expression crossing his face.
MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN: Keep your eyes open, boys; I'm coming!
Maxwell Jacob Friedman tosses the microphone to the side as he shoves past the camera man and the view falters for a moment before catching Maxwell as he walks down the hallway and the cameras go back to ringside.
MICHAEL COLE: Maxwell Jacob Friedman seemingly putting the entire locker room on notice!
WADE BARRETT: It’s a shame that a superstar the caliber of Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been left off of tonight’s card, but I have no doubts that he’ll be righting that wrong soon enough!
MICHAEL COLE: We’ll have to keep an eye out for what his next moves are, but coming up next for tonight, we have quite an…interesting grudge match, Wade.
WADE BARRETT: “Smart” Mark Sterling and Pat McAfee have been running their mouths at one another for weeks on social media, but now it’s time for them to finally step into this ring and find out who the better man really is!
The camera hovers at the top of the entrance ramp for a moment before the theme from People's Court hits the sound system and the crowd all directs their attention towards the entrance ramp in confusion. After a second, "Smart" Mark Sterling marches out onto the entrance ramp and the crowd boo loudly. He pays them no mind as he confidently walks down the ramp, ready to make his WWE in-ring debut here tonight on a PLE!
WADE BARRETT: I cannot believe what we are about to witness, Cole. This is Night of Champions, but instead, we are about to be treated to a match between two managers.
MICHAEL COLE: Well, Wade - let's not jump to conclusions just yet. "Smart" Mark Sterling, despite being a bit of an egotistical jerk, was a trained wrestler. And we are all familiar with what our former broadcast partner is able to do within the squared circle.
WADE BARRETT: I believe a former colleague of ours would refer to this match as "bowling shoe ugly".
Sterling hops into the ring and poses for the hard cam, clearly soaking up the spotlight in his own little world as the crowd boos him relentlessly.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, this is "SMART" MARK STERLING!
The crowd boos again as he retreats to a corner and shadow boxes a bit.
WADE BARRETT: What an intimidating presence.
HEY! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! echoes throughout the arena and the crowd comes unglued for Pat McAfee! The former Indianapolis Colts All-Pro punter makes his way out onto the entrance ramp to a huge ovation from the crowd here in attendance. He slaps some hands along the way, as the camera cuts back to Sterling who is begging for him to get into the ring. McAfee and Sterling jaw-jack with each other from afar, before McAfee turns his attention back to the fans and pumps them up some more.
MICHAEL COLE: What an ovation for Pat McAfee here tonight!
SAMANTHA IRVIN: And his opponent, this is PAT MCAFEEEEE!
McAfee finishes walking down the entrance ramp .. and "Smart" Mark Sterling runs and bounces off the ropes, looking to start the match hot with a wild Tope Suicida! But he's tragically short and falls flat on his face on the outside, and the entire arena erupts in laughter!
WADE BARRETT: I can confidently tell you that I have NEVER seen that before!
MICHAEL COLE: They call those types of moves high-risk for a reason! It did not pay off for "Smart" Mark Sterling and he landed flat on his face!
McAfee shakes his head as Sterling struggles to make his way back up to his feet, and the match hasn't even begun yet. McAfee shrugs his shoulders and picks up Sterling by the head and immediately sends him careening off the steel ring post! The crowd cheers loudly as McAfee hypes them up, even taking a second to point and laugh at the fallen "Smart" Mark Sterling.
WADE BARRETT: McAfee seems to be enjoying himself in the early going of this match.
MICHAEL COLE: This match hasn't even officially begun, but Pat looks like he's having a great time. And he should, after all the lawsuits and litigation threats from Sterling, I'm sure that McAfee is happy to take out some of his aggression on him here tonight!
Sterling has tried to wiggle underneath the ring, and McAfee grabs him by the ankles and pulls him out. Sterling has a kendo stick in hand! He wildly swings it and Pat McAfee easily dodges it, and kicks Sterling in the gut, before bouncing his head off the announcer's table! The kendo stick goes flying, but McAfee is quick to grab it. The crowd cheers loudly as McAfee stalks Sterling, twirling the kendo stick between his fingers. As Sterling pulls himself up to his feet, he turns and immediately regrets it as McAfee swings and catches Sterling right in the stomach! He hunches over in pain, and McAfee fires a shot right across the back of "Smart" Mark Sterling! The crowd "ooh" in unison as Sterling screams out in pain!
WADE BARRETT: What a shot by McAfee! I don't think Sterling anticipated this!
MICHAEL COLE: Serves him right, he introduced the kendo stick to begin with!
Sterling tries to escape the onslaught from McAfee and slides into the ring. McAfee follows in after him, and the referee immediately calls for the bell!
MICHAEL COLE: And this one is officially underway now!
SINGLES MATCH
Sterling is dazed and is on all fours, trying to pull himself up to a vertical base. McAfee looks around the arena and smiles a huge grin, before perching himself on the second rope. The ultimate hype man pumps up the crowd, before leaping off and connecting with a Panama Sunrise Canadian Destroyer! The fans in the arena go nuts as Sterling gets spiked right on his dome!
WADE BARRETT: OH MY!
McAfee immediately goes to cover him and the referee drops down to count! 1 .. 2 .. 3! This one is finished!

PAT MCAFEE
00:20 via PINFALL
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here is your winner... PAT MCAAAFEEE!
MICHAEL COLE: In record time, Pat McAfee beats "Smart" Mark Sterling!
WADE BARRETT: I can’t believe this, Cole! Things are not going well so far tonight for “Smart” Mark Sterling and his associates!
McAfee gets his hand raised as he looks down and chuckles at the fallen "Smart" Mark Sterling, who is left clutching his neck. Basking in the cheers from the crowd, McAfee gets up onto the top turnbuckle and throws his arms up in the air in celebration as the crowd continues to go crazy for him. After a few moments, McAfee hops down to the mat and exits the ring, making his way up the ramp, slapping outstretched hands of fans along the way. Back in the ring, “Smart” Mark Sterling is being helped to his feet by the referee. Clearly upset with how this has gone, he shoves the referee away from him. Walking over to the ropes, he starts to exit the ring but his foot catches the bottom rope and he trips and falls off the apron to the floor, eliciting more laughter from the crowd. With a frustrated yell, Sterling gets to his feet and runs up the ramp as the cameras shift back over to the commentary table.
MICHAEL COLE: I have a feeling Mark Sterling is going to remember this night for a long, long time, Wade!
WADE BARRETT: These people should be ashamed for laughing at his misfortune. He’s a serious businessman and he deserves their respect!
MICHAEL COLE: If you ask me, he got exactly what he deserves here tonight at the hands of Pat McAfee. But folks, up next is one match that we’ve been incredibly excited for, it’s the Intercontinental Championship battle royal!
WADE BARRETT: Cole I’ve been looking forward to this one for weeks! There’s so many awesome competitors in this one, I can’t wait to see what unfolds!
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for the WWE Intercontinental Championship Baaattleee Roooyaaal match! A superstar must go over the top rope in order to be eliminated, and the last man standing in the ring will become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion!
Kazuchika Okada and Kevin Owens are already impatiently eyeing each other up in the ring as they lean back in their respective corners waiting.
WADE BARRETT: Cole, this is yet another match that should absolutely get these fans wild.
MICHAEL COLE: I'd say so, nine men in an over the top rope elimination battle royal, what more could you want?
WADE BARRETT: Nine men that are frothing at the mouth for the chance to become the first WWE Intercontinental Champion.
MICHAEL COLE: Not to mention the bragging rights of saying you were the last man standing by the end of the match.
"Take Flight" by def rebel blares over the P/A system of the arena as Logan Paul comes out with that cocky grin on his face, holding a bottle of Glowberry PRIME. He pops the top as he takes a drink while heading to the ring before tossing it into the crowd. The fans are booing him but he simply laughs as he smack a drink out of fans hand and climbs the steps into the ring.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Now making his way to the ring, The Maverick, Looogaaan Paaaul!
WADE BARRETT: Here's the man! The Legend Killer! Logan Paul!
MICHAEL COLE: I think if he keeps calling himself that, he might wind up with a target on his back.
WADE BARRETT: He's a megastar, Cole, he doesn't care if people don't like it!
"Take Over" by Dave Oliver hits the P/A system now as out comes Christian Cage with Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus behind him at the top of the stage. He gives each of them a fist bump before telling them to beat it and they head back as he makes his way down the ramp.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Now making his way to the ring, the leader of The Patriarchy, Christiiian Caaage!
MICHAEL COLE: Christian will forever and always be the CLB in my eyes.
WADE BARRETT: CLB?
MICHAEL COLE: A creepy little bastard, Wade.
WADE BARRETT: I bet you wouldn't say it to his face, Cole.
”All Ego” by Hot Tag Media Works plays as Ethan Page makes his way onto the stage spreading his arms wide as the fans rain down their displeasure with his appearance. He waves them off with his hands as he makes his way down to the ring and straightens out his jacket a bit.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Now making his way to the ring, All-Ego, Eeethaaan Paaage!
MICHAEL COLE: Ethan Page and his group have gotten themselves out here in a big way for Night of Champions. Each member, even their manager has been scheduled for a match tonight.
WADE BARRETT: Let’s just hope for Ethan Page’s sake, things go better for him than they did for Carmella and Mark Sterling and he’s able to put his name on the map in a big way by becoming WWE Intercontinental Champion in this match.
MICHAEL COLE: He definitely has the potential, Wade, but he can only do that if he keeps himself from going over the top rope and hitting the floor with both feet.
"Wild Thing" by X begins to play as the cameras pan over the crowd to spot Jon Moxley making his way down the stairs through the fans. He unzips his jacket as he makes his way down and cracks his knuckles on the way to the barricade. Jumping over the barrier he makes his way down the ramp as he looks prepared for battle.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Now making his way to the ring, The Death Rider, Jooon Moxleeeyyy!
WADE BARRETT: Moxley is a man who hasn't been the same since he left the WWE. Now that he's back, I'm not sure he's exactly the fit Triple H was looking for.
MICHAEL COLE: He's already threatened our general manager, William Regal, not to mention some of the things he did while he was away from us here in the WWE. This man is unhinged and he might just be the most ruthless man in this match.
WADE BARRETT: Logan Paul may want to stay as far away from Mox as he can. Has to make sure his money maker doesn't get messed up too badly, he's a social media megastar after all!
"Alwayz Ready" by Downstait hits the P/A system of the arena as Matt Cardona makes his way down the rampway, taking off his denim jacket and his skull mask as he tosses it aside. Clearly he's focusing on the competition as the usual fanfare is nowhere to be seen.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Now making his way to the ring, he is Aaalwaaayz Reeeady, Maaatt Caaardooona!
MICHAEL COLE: Matt Cardona is a man we should all be watching moving forward. Formerly known as Zack Ryder, he's a changed man since working the independent scene and one of the highest paid wrestlers to have worked on them.
WADE BARRETT: Don't forget the craftiness that he brings to the table. He was under the tutelage of one of the biggest stars of WWE's past, The Rated R Superstar.
MICHAEL COLE: That's right, and he's more than willing to do whatever it takes now after becoming the Deathmatch King while he was away from the WWE Universe. Have you seen how brutal those matches can be?
WADE BARRETT: All it takes is one of those matches and your mentality has shifted to a completely different level of brutality. I wouldn't be surprised if he does very well in this match.
"Worlds Apart" by CFO$ hits the speakers as the fans pop huge for the man with the biggest heart in WWE, Sami Zayn, who is dancing his way to the stage as he has a huge grin on his face, just happy to soak in the adoration. He makes a slow walk towards the ring as he sizes up the competition.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Now making his way to the ring, The Underdog from The Underground, Saaamiii Zaaayyyn!
MICHAEL COLE: Sami Zayn is a very special talent, Wade. It doesn't matter who you are, you can't help but get a little bit happier when he makes his way out here.
WADE BARRETT: That's because no matter what you throw his way, Zayn will continue to get back up and fight. It's his best quality aside from his heart, and let me tell you his heart gets him into some serious trouble sometimes.
MICHAEL COLE: No doubt about that, Wade. You gotta love an underdog though, Sami Zayn is the epitome of the underdog.
"Thunderstruck" by AC/DC hits the PA system of the arena as the fans erupt for the extreme legend, Lance Storm. He makes his way out onto the stage and raises his arms in the air.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Now making his way to the ring, The Thrillseeker, Laaance Stooorm!
WADE BARRETT: If you told me Lance Storm was on your bingo card for returns the WWE would see, I'd have called you a liar, Cole.
MICHAEL COLE: Well you know what we used to always say, anything can happen in the WWE, Barrett. Looks like tonight is one of those nights, and we're going to be blessed with some thunder from Lance Storm.
WADE BARRETT: The most experienced man in this match by many years and these younger guys are going to have to watch themselves. He's not as frail as one would believe even at this ripe old age he is now at fifty-four.
MICHAEL COLE: Hey, if Flair's still taking his licks why can't Lance Storm, right?
BATTLE ROYAL
As Lance Storm enters the ring, all hell breaks loose and each man finds an adversary. Kevin Owens making a beeline for Logan Paul as the two exchange punches. Kazuchika Okada immediately levels Lance Storm with a RAINMAKER! tapping at the side of his head as he turns to find another opponent, but gets a kick to the gut followed by a PARADIGM SHIFT! Moxley screams as he grabs him up by the back of the neck and tosses him straight out over the top rope, waving to the man mockingly as Kazuchika tries to go back into the ring but the referees explain that he's been eliminated. Cursing his luck, he kicks the ring stairs on his way to leave.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Kazuchika Okada has been eliminated!
WADE BARRETT: Have to stay on your toes, Cole! The man took one second too long and he's been eliminated!
MICHAEL COLE: That Rainmaker he did certainly looked as though it took a toll on Lance Storm, though.
Christian Cage runs up behind Moxley and tries to dump him over the ropes, but he's struggling with the effort. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens has Logan Paul in the corner and he's stomping an absolute mudhole in the social media megastar. As he's satisfied with his work he looks at the man slumped in the corner and darts to the other side of the ring, running back in with a Cannonball attempt but Logan rolls out of the way as Owens lands on the back of his neck. Logan Paul takes the opportunity to grab him and toss him over the top rope as he lands hard on the floor and Logan sticks his tongue out at him as he mocks the downed Owens.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin Owens has been eliminated!
WADE BARRETT: This is what I love about Logan Paul, he's got the instincts a veteran should have but he's still only had about eight wrestling matches in his career here in the WWE. If you only count the new era, he's only had one other match but it gave him the experience of a multi-man match which might be why he's got the advantage so early.
MICHAEL COLE: Nobody doubts his athletic ability, or his ability to snake his way to a victory. Most of us just generally don't like the way he does things.
WADE BARRETT: Use whatever advantage you can get, it's the only way you can advance in this business, Cole. A man like Logan Paul doesn't have time to worry about what everybody thinks, he wouldn't have time to even be in the ring if that were the case.
Kevin Owens is still standing outside the ring as he tries to get back at Logan Paul, but he's held back by several referees. Logan Paul flips him the bird real quick but turns around and gets a clothesline over the top rope from Ethan Page for his trouble. Logan isn't quite done yet though as he's holding on for dear life and he skins the cat to get back into the ring. All Ego is absolutely shocked, though, as he thought he had him. Logan shoves Ethan who in turns shoves him back before a hard right hand from Logan Paul, taking down Ethan Page with one lucky punch. Matt Cardona spots this and motions between him and Logan Paul for a team-up, the two grab Ethan Page off the canvas and toss him over the top rope out of the ring to the floor.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Ethan Page has been eliminated!
MICHAEL COLE: That's two eliminations for Logan Paul back-to-back!
WADE BARRETT: He looks like he's really starting to enjoy this as well. Smart move to team-up with Matt Cardona and really we're already down to only six men.
Christian Cage runs up knocking both men down with clotheslines to the back of the neck as they flip from the impact. Matt Cardona and Logan Paul both wonder what just happened as they crawl to the corner and rest for a moment. Christian Cage now shifts his focus to Sami Zayn who is choking Jon Moxley in the corner with his boot on the man's throat. Christian hooks him up and nails the UNPRETTIER! Tapping the side of his head as he laughs and the crowd boos even louder at him now. However the crowd momentum suddenly shifts as they all cheer loudly for Lance Storm being back on his feet. Christian is surprised by what he believes to be a change of heart from the crowd. Holding his arms out as he thanks the crowd for being impressed and turns right into a SUPER KICK! Christian is out on his feet as he stumbles back towards the ropes, Cardona rushes in and clotheslines him out and over the top rope as he crumples into a heap on the floor.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Christian Cage has been eliminated!
Matt Cardona claps his hands together as he turns towards Lance Storm who nails another SUPER KICK! He grabs for the rope but Logan Paul pulls it out of his grasp at the last moment, getting up from the canvas. Matt Cardona lands hard on his ass outside the ring as he smacks the ground repeatedly with a fist as he curses his luck. Matt Cardona looks to Logan Paul who gives him a visible wink before turning his attention to Lance Storm.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Matt Cardona has been eliminated!
MICHAEL COLE: Did you see that, Wade? Logan Paul just screwed Matt Cardona out of his chance to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion!
WADE BARRETT: What are you talking about, Cole? Logan was obviously just trying to get up on his feet. We've still got four competitors left and you can't afford to be caught slacking.
MICHAEL COLE: He winked, Wade! He winked at Cardona as if to say he did it on purpose!
WADE BARRETT: Lance Storm was the one that super kicked the man, Cole. I don't know what you're watching but my eyes are on the action in the ring.
Logan Paul shimmies his shoulders at the audience as he backs into Jon Moxley, turning around he notices that it's not just Moxley, Sami Zayn is there, as well as Lance Storm who all are staring him down. He holds up his hands as if to show he's defenseless as the three don't care a lick and proceed to pile on top of him beating the hell out of him in the center of the ring. Moxley backs away as he sits in the corner and just grins at the chaos as Lance Storm and Sami Zayn continue to stomp Logan Paul on the canvas. Eventually the two men breathing heavily look at each other though and fists begin to fly between one another. Lance Storm whips Sami Zayn towards the ropes and Zayn slides under a Super Kick attempt as he comes back, bouncing off the other side and he comes back and nails a kick of his own, as Lance Storm bounces off the ropes behind him and comes back to be nailed with the Blue Thunder Bomb!
MICHAEL COLE: Sami Zayn is picking up his momentum here and that's not a place either Logan Paul or Lance Storm want to be!
WADE BARRETT: It certainly isn't, Cole. If he keeps this momentum up he's going to eliminate both men to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion!
Sami Zayn believes he is the only man left standing as he suddenly is grabbed the tights from behind and dumped out of the ring so unceremoniously that he falls onto his shoulder as he hits the floor by Jon Moxley!
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Sami Zayn has been eliminated!
Moxley now lifts Storm up as he tosses him over the top rope, but Lance Storm lands on his feet on the apron. Mox takes a wild right hand swing but Storm ducks it, hooking Moxley around the neck as he lifts him over the ropes and onto the apron with him. Storm backs up and goes for a Super Kick but Jon picks him up in the powerbomb position and carefully turns to face him to the outside of the ring. Lance Storm, however, is unloading with shots to the top of Jon Moxley's head as he drops him back down onto the apron and both men stagger for a moment trying not to fall. SUPER KICK out of nowhere and Jon Moxley falls flat to the outside as he is stiff as a board all the way down. From behind, though, it's Logan Paul who hits a dropkick that sends Lance Storm off the apron and onto the barricade chest first before he hits the floor.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen, Jon Moxley and Lance Storm have been eliminated!
WINNER
LOGAN PAUL
10:47 via OVER THE TOP ROPE ELIMINATION
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here is your winner and the NEEEWWW WWE Intercontinental Champion, The Maverick LOOOGAAAN PAAAUL!
Logan Paul is down on the canvas breathing heavily as a referee comes into the ring and hands him the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He rips it out of the referee's hand as he holds it up for the crowd who are none too pleased with the outcome. Logan grins from ear-to-ear as he slaps the strap over his shoulder and pats the plate on the front of the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
MICHAEL COLE: I can't believe it, Logan Paul has done it.
WADE BARRETT: We've got ourselves a new WWE Intercontinental Champion, Cole. Logan Paul is going to lead the way into the future of the division, congratulations to Logan Paul.
MICHAEL COLE: Blindsiding Lance Storm like that, I thought he had it after he super kicked Sami Zayn off the apron.
WADE BARRETT: Eyes in the back of your head, Cole, that's what every superstar needs. Lance has a bit of ring rust, he's not remembering just how many dastardly things these superstars do anymore to get ahead.
As Logan continues celebrating in the ring, both Jon Moxley and Lance Storm shake their heads in disappointment as they begin walking towards the ramp to head up to the back. Logan watches them go with a cocky laugh, before climbing up to the second turnbuckle and raising the Intercontinental Championship in the air, basking in the crowd’s boos as the cameras fade out to an ad break.
