Monday Night RAW
April 1, 2024
PPG Paints Arena
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
As the opening video package ends, pyro explodes on the stage as the crowd in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is erupting in cheers. The cameras pan through the crowd, showing off various signs reading things like “The Realest Champion”, “IC Has Gone Viral!”, “Greatest Tag Team Champs in the World!” and more. After doing a pan of the PPG Paints Arena, the cameras settle in on the commentary table where we see the team of Michael Cole and Wade Barrett.
MICHAEL COLE: Good evening everybody, we are just eight days removed from our first PLE of the new era, Night of Champions, and what a night it was!
WADE BARRETT: You can say that again, Cole, history was made as we crowned all of the inaugural champions of the new era!
MICHAEL COLE: One of those titles being the WWE Women’s Championship! And Wade, we have a hell of a match in store tonight because the new Women’s Champion, Serena Deeb, is already making her first title defense against Liv Morgan in tonight’s main event!
WADE BARRETT: That’s gonna be a great one, but that’s not all we have on tap tonight! We’re also going to see Lance Storm take on Dominik Mysterio!
MICHAEL COLE: Storm was incredibly impressive in the Intercontinental Championship battle royal at Night of Champions, I’m sure he’s frustrated that he came so close just to lose to Logan Paul. You have to think he may have a lot of aggression to take out on Mysterio tonight!
WADE BARRETT: Yeah, I have a feeling Dom’s about to have quite the harsh introduction to the new era!
MICHAEL COLE: I think you’re right, Wade! And speaking of introductions, it looks like we’re going to be starting the show with the championship coronation of our new WWE Champion!
Indeed, the cameras pan to the ring which is set up for a celebration. A red carpet has been rolled out across the canvas, and there’s a podium with a long, black cloth draped over it and a microphone on each end. Suddenly, “King of Kings” by Motörhead begins to play and the Pittsburgh crowd goes wild with cheers as the owners of the WWE, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, make their way out to the top of the ramp. As always, the pair are all smiles, looking as happy as ever as they look out around the packed arena. They look at one another and share a kiss before Triple H takes Stephanie’s hand in his and they begin to walk down the ramp.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Ladies and gentlemen please welcome, the owners of WWE, Stephanie McMahon and Trrriiipllle H!
MICHAEL COLE: Stephanie and Triple H look quite pleased, I can only imagine they were very happy with how things went at Night of Champions!
WADE BARRETT: As they should be, Cole, it was an amazing night!
As they reach the bottom of the ramp, Triple H goes to the steel steps, walking up to the apron and holding the ropes open for Stephanie as he always does as she follows closely behind him and enters the ring. He enters the ring behind her, and they both walk over to the podium and pick up a microphone, giving a nod to Samantha Irvin who gives them a nod and a smile back before exiting the ring. As the music fades out, Stephanie and Triple H stand on either side of the podium and wait for the cheers to die down. As they do, Stephanie raises her microphone up to her mouth and begins to speak.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Welcome, everyone to Monday Night RAW!
As usual, the crowd goes wild as Stephanie says this iconic line. Both Stephanie and Triple H look out at the crowd with big smiles and as the cheering dies down, Stephanie continues on.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: I have to be honest, it never gets old saying that. Before we get to tonight’s celebrations, I have to make a brief announcement and let you all know that unfortunately, the match that was scheduled between Kevin Owens and Randy Orton will not be taking place tonight, as both men had travel issues. I know it’s disappointing, but there’s plenty of other great WWE action on tap for tonight and I know you’ll all be satisfied. Now, with that out of the way, let’s move on to a more pleasant subject. Eight days ago, we had our first Premium Live Event of the new era, Night of Champions. History was made on the sacred grounds of Madison Square Garden, and it was a night that I’m confident the WWE Universe will remember for years to come.
Stephanie pauses again briefly as the crowd lets out another cheer, before continuing.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: The men and women of the WWE put everything on the line for the honor of being named the first champions of the new era, and in the end, six individuals rose to the top and proved they’re worthy of being called “champion”. And right now, we’re out here to celebrate the man who went to war in the main event and came out on the other side as the best in this business. The man who, when it was all said and done, proved he has what it takes to lead the WWE in this new era as its world champion. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, the NEW WWE Champion…SWERVE STRICKLAND!
The WWE Universe immediately begins to boo, but it’s overtaken by the voice of the WWE Champion himself with the “WHOSE HOUSE?” Out walks the one and only mastermind behind the mogul, Prince Nana who is dressed to impress. As the beat builds to the drop, Nana is trying to get everyone in the crowd on their feet for the new WWE Champion. They’re not going for it though. Why would they? Finally, Nana waves them off with disgust. “Big Pressure (Remix)” by the WWE Champion officially drops and Nana begins doing his usual swerving, driving, and swerving while he drives.
WADE BARRETT: And the electric dance moves of Prince Nana can only mean one thing, Michael!
Out walks The Crown Jewel himself, Swerve Strickland. While he does have on his usual expensive fur coat, underneath that? He’s dressed to the nines in a lovely all black suit. He stops at the top of the ramp to stare at Nana as usual, who won’t stop dancing on this blessed day. The two begin their journey down the ramp.
MICHAEL COLE: In what was an absolute classic of a main event at Night of Champions, this is the man who will be the face going into this new era of WWE. Swerve Strickland. His road was long and filled with difficult obstacles, names on that list including former champions Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens.
WADE BARRETT: Let’s not leave out Cody Rhodes and especially former Olympian Gable Steveson, who Swerve beat at Night Of Champions for that title.
MICHAEL COLE: It’s an impressive list, Wade - but heavy is the head that wears the crown. Becoming world champion and being world champion are two different things, not that you would know.
WADE BARRETT: Hey! Like you would?!
Swerve and Nana have now made it to ringside, both men making their way up the stairs and into the ring. Nana is the first to greet Stephanie and Triple H, shaking both of their hands with a lot of enthusiasm and thanking them. Swerve is next, but he’s a lot colder than Nana was. He gives brief handshakes to the two authority figures, a faint smile on his face. Nana is waving Swerve over to the podium in the middle of the ring, so Strickland decides to oblige. Nana then begins pointing at it and looking at Stephanie and Hunter, who nod and motion towards this mysteriously covered item. Nana then grabs the black cloth draped over it, flinging it away to reveal the WWE Championship!
WADE BARRETT: Would you look at that?! An absolute beauty of a championship!
MICHAEL COLE: And of course, Strickland is going to ruin the moment by opening his mouth.
WADE BARRETT: Show some respect!
Swerve looks down at the WWE Championship in all of its glory, a microphone now in hand thanks to Nana. Then he looks up with a very sinister, cocky look on his face to ask one question.
SWERVE STRICKLAND: Pittsburgh… whose house?
The smug Swerve looks around at the crowd who are having none of it. The only one who responds is Prince Nana, shouting “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” with his hands cupped over his mouth. Strickland stands in front of the WWE Championship, staring into it. He then looks back to the crowd, continuing his diatribe.
SWERVE STRICKLAND: That’s okay, you don’t have to say it. I actually don’t need any of you to say it! Because what’s on this podium says it all. This championship speaks louder than any acknowledgement from the likes of you - because of what it represents. I was able to outlast and overcome the toughest competition in this very sport. Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns - I kicked ‘em to the curb, eviction notice in one hand and a box of belongings in the other! Gable Steveson… I crushed his dreams. That boy thought he was ready to be a bi-athlete. He thought he could wrestle amateurly and professionally. He thought he could carry the burden of being WWE Champion until he realized that our gold? Is a lot heavier and a lot harder to hold onto.
Swerve lowers the microphone, looking rather proud of himself as the WWE faithful hit him with a barrage of boos. Nana is telling them all to shut up but of course they’re unresponsive to that.
SWERVE STRICKLAND: That’s okay though, it is. We shouldn’t shame somebody who's inexperienced for thinking they had what it takes to step up. Gable didn’t know. None of them guys in the tournament knew who they were getting in the ring with. Part of me wonders if I knew. I’m not the same man I was a few years ago when I first walked through these doors. How could I be? Thousands of false promises were more than enough for young, impressionable me to get that feeling in the pit of my stomach. At first I thought it was depression, I thought being given the runaround was all I was destined for. Now? I’m the hot commodity. And like Stephanie said, I proved I have what it takes to lead this new era of WWE. The Crown Jewel now turns into the only man fit to wear the crown. Sounds like destiny to me. Now let’s get down to King Strickland’s first o-
Swerve is unable to continue his sentence as a loud truck horn fills the arena.
MICHAEL COLE: What in the world!?
WADE BARRETT: I think I know what that means, Cole! But, what is he doing here!?
The “he” that Wade Barrett is referring to is of course DIESEL, who walks out onto the entrance stage.
MICHAEL COLE: There he is, Wade! Big Daddy Cool!
WADE BARRETT: But, what does he want? How dare he interrupt the new Champion!?
MICHAEL COLE: It looks like we’re about to find out!
As Michael Cole suggested, Diesel is holding a microphone and as his entrance theme fades off, he addresses the WWE Universe in Pittsburgh, PA.
DIESEL: Hey yo.
The crowd pops at the nostalgia that the big man starts with.
DIESEL: Ladies and gentlemen, let’s give it up for the new WWE Champion!
The big man gestures towards the ring and of course the fans show their disapproval for the new champion, Swerve Strickland.
DIESEL: Now, let’s give it up for the NEXT WWE Champion!
Diesel throws his fist into the air and the crowd gives a huge reaction.
MICHAEL COLE: Diesel calling himself the next WWE Champion here tonight, Wade!
WADE BARRETT: He’s been calling out the champion for the last couple weeks, Cole. He called his shot before we even knew who was leaving Night of Champions as Champion!
DIESEL: It should come as a surprise to no one that Big Daddy Cool’s phone has been ringing off the hook ever since Night of Champions went off the air. Apparently everyone who is anyone is worried about the WWE under Swerve Strickland as the champion. Then again, Big Daddy Cool’s phone was ringing off the hook before the match too, so apparently everyone who is anyone was worried about the WWE under a Steveson run as Champion too! I guess at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who is champion until it’s Big Daddy Cool with the belt around his waist!
WADE BARRETT: The big man is staring a hole through the WWE Champion!
DIESEL: Listen Swerve, don’t take this interruption as Big Daddy Cool disrespecting you. I’m as proud of you as anyone I assure you, I just want to be as clear as possible when I tell you that I’m taking that title from you as soon as Stephanie and Triple H make this match official! I want to make sure that you see this runaway eighteen wheeler coming your way!
Huge pop from the crowd as Diesel pauses to let his comments set in.
DIESEL: Enjoy your time with the belt my man, because it’s just a matter of time before Big Daddy Cool is the next WWE Champion!
Diesel once again throws his fist into the air as the crowd cheers him on.
SWERVE STRICKLAND: Look, I don’t know if you’re lost, but they said that this is a NEW era. I get the truck horns are loud, your hearing’s a little old - so let me repeat it for you. This is a NEW era, an era that I am the face of. So it don’t matter if it’s a runaway eighteen wheeler or a runaway from the retirement home, I ain’t worried about it until it’s standing right in front of me!
With that, Swerve drops his microphone to the mat and begins motioning for Diesel to come down the ramp. Nana begins hyping up the crowd, who are booing Swerve, but begin to cheer when they see Diesel considering the offer. After a moment, Diesel takes a couple of steps forward, but Triple H quickly speaks up.
TRIPLE H: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let’s not get too hasty here, gentlemen. This is supposed to be a celebration, not a brawl. Now obviously, there’s some tension here, and I think the only way to solve it is going to be inside of this very ring. Now, Diesel, you’ve made it clear you have your sights set on the WWE Championship. And Swerve, you seem ready and eager to prove yourself as the leader of the new era. So why don’t we kill two birds with one stone?
The crowd begins to cheer as they sense where this is going, and after a moment, Triple H continues.
TRIPLE H: How about we see Swerve Strickland defend the WWE Championship against Diesel at our next Premium Live Event, Backlash? Sounds like a great idea to me, what do you think, fellas?
Diesel smirks before responding to Triple H.
DIESEL: You know what boss, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Swerve is in the ring, nodding his head and still motioning for Diesel to join him in the ring.
MICHAEL COLE: Seems like our WWE Champion agrees to that!
Triple H smiles and nods as he raises the microphone up to his mouth once again.
TRIPLE H: Alright, then it’s settled. In just under four weeks, in Orlando, Florida, the two of you are going to do battle for the greatest prize in our industry, may the best man win.
With that, Triple H drops his microphone as “King of Kings” begins playing on the speakers once again. Moving towards the ropes, he holds them open for Stephanie as she walks over to them and steps out onto the apron, walking towards the steel steps. As he exits the ring, Triple H pauses on the apron and looks at Swerve, nodding and mouthing “good luck” to him before turning and walking towards the steel steps and making his way down. He makes his way up the ramp and stops where Diesel is standing. The two lock eyes, and Triple H just nods once again, mouthing “good luck” and reaching up to pat him on the shoulder before continuing on to the back. Diesel then turns his attention back to Strickland, a smirk spreading across his face while Strickland is still daring him to come into the ring, while Prince Nana attempts to calm down his client.
MICHAEL COLE: What a match made by Triple H, Swerve Strickland versus Diesel for the WWE Championship at Backlash!
WADE BARRETT: I didn’t think it could get any bigger than Strickland versus Steveson last week at Night of Champions, but I think that I may have been proven wrong! I can’t wait to get to Orlando and see this go down!
Suddenly, the TitanTron clicks to life to show a wrestling ring. The ring isn’t in pristine condition like you might expect to find on RAW, however. Instead, it looks like it’s seen a thing. Or two. Standing in the middle of the ring are two nondescript gentlemen in wrestling gear, in the middle of a lock up. As the shot expands, we see a sign hanging on the wall that reads: “Chicago Made Wrestling Academy”. As the Pittsburgh, PA crowd gets a look at this, they roar with approval knowing that the Best Tag Team in the World is soon to follow.
MICHAEL COLE: It looks like we’re going to be checking in with the WWE World Tag Team Champions, Wade.
WADE BARRETT: I did hear that they’re not here tonight, but it looks like we’ll be joining them at the CMWA!
The shot continues to expand and show that one half of the tag team champions, CM Punk, is standing in a corner of the wrestling ring.
CM PUNK: Keep it moving!
One of the competitors shoots the other into the ropes and catches the other wrestler with a knee lift in the center of the ring.
CM PUNK: Nice! Now follow up!
It’s clear at this point that we’ve joined an instructional lesson at CMWA. Punk is in the ring coaching, and as the shot expands completely, we find the other half of the tag team champions, Stevie Richards, sitting in a steel chair at a table next to the ring, wearing an announcer type headset.
It should be noted, the headset isn’t plugged into anything.
STEVIE RICHARDS: Thank you for joining us at CMWA, as you can see the action is hot in the ring tonight! Wrestler A and Wrestler B are battling it out to determine, well, to determine the winner of the A versus B match!
The two competitors lock it up again, as Punk barks orders from the corner.
CM PUNK: Let’s go!
STEVIE RICHARDS: Joining Wrestler A and Wrestler B in the ring is the owner of CMWA, one half of the tag team champions and my best friend, CM Punk! I’d say I’d wait for a break in the action to address the events of Night of Champions, but there is never a break in the action at CMWA!
WADE BARRETT: You better watch out Cole, Stevie ain’t half bad on commentary!
MICHAEL COLE: He’s not half bad as a tag team wrestler either, which was evident in one heck of a TLC match at Night of Champions!
STEVIE RICHARDS: As you saw at the PLE, my best friend CM Punk helped me overcome my fear of heights and the Punkster and Steveo became the first WWE Tag Team Champions of the new era! OH, a heck of a headlock by wrestler A there! Anyway, I want to give the AOP and the Young Bucks their props, they proved to be quite the challenge in a daunting TLC match. OH, a massive drop kick from wrestler B, the action is hot tonight! What was I saying, TLC, right, that match is in the rear-view mirror of the Best Tag Team in the World and we’re looking to the future!
CM PUNK: Tighten that hold up, let’s see it!
STEVIE RICHARDS: And, while we’re not in Pittsburgh tonight, the Best Tag Team in the World WILL be live on RAW next week in Boston to discuss the current state of the tag team division in the WWE and our plans for the future! OH! A massive DDT by wrestler A!
Back in the ring, Punk drops to the canvas and counts the one, two three.
MICHAEL COLE: Look at CM Punk in that ring coaching a couple guys that very well may be future WWE superstars!
WADE BARRETT: And Stevie on commentary! The tag team champs are back in Chicago putting in work, but as you heard, they’ll be on RAW next week in Boston!
MICHAEL COLE: I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the tag team division going forward, it’s sure to be exciting! Speaking of exciting, this next matchup is sure to be a thrill, Wade, we have Jon Moxley taking on Matt Sydal!
WADE BARRETT: It’s been a few weeks since we’ve seen Matt Sydal, and Jon Moxley came very close to winning the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions. I’m sure both men are going to be looking to get some positive momentum going for them!
"Eye in The Sky" by The Alan Parsons Project begins to play as Matt Sydal comes out to the top of the ramp. He raises his arms in the air as he lays his palms flat against each other and smiles. As he drops his arms, he lifts his right pointer finger up to point at his forehead before making his way down the ramp.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Making his way to the ring, he is "Reborn", Maaatt Syyydaaal!
MICHAEL COLE: I don't know about you, Wade, but I'm just not sure what to think about Matt Sydal.
WADE BARRETT: Well, Cole, he's definitely a bit of an odd duck. I'm not sure what this third eye bit he talks about is, but he seems to believe the canvas is the place where he creates works of art for the audience. Maybe his third eye serves as the inspiration for the masterpieces he performs?
MICHAEL COLE: Well, he's definitely got a tough one to finish tonight if he expects to beat Jon Moxley. Here's hoping he paid enough to deal with the consequences if not.
Matt Sydal slides into the ring as he ascends the turnbuckle and once again points at his forehead to indicate the third eye. As he hops down, he's interrupted by "Wild Thing" by X blasting over the P/A system of the arena as Jon Moxley is followed from behind out of the tunnel into the arena. Looking out amongst the fans who are going wild at this appearance, he marches his way down the stairs past fans in their seats.
SAMANTHA IRVIN: And his opponent, Jooon Moooxleyyy!
Moxley curls his lip as he confidently arrives at the barricade and easily hops over it. He stares daggers into Matt Sydal as he circles the ring for a moment and merely smirks at Sydal, who points to the center of his forehead as he berates Jon Moxley about something that isn’t picked up by the audio. Mox pulls himself up onto the apron as he laughs at Sydal and cracks his knuckles before pointing at him and taunting right back.
WADE BARRETT: Jon Moxley is a bit more straightforward; you never have to wonder what his goal is. He's out here to whip a man around from pillar to post and hopefully bust him open in the process.
MICHAEL COLE: Jon Moxley definitely has that look of determination in his eyes after coming up short at Night of Champions. It was a very tumultuous ending to that match; at one point I wasn't sure if we were going to have Lance Storm, Jon Moxley, or Logan Paul as the Intercontinental Champion!
WADE BARRETT: Tonight, I'm sure that Jon Moxley is going to vent out those frustrations and poor Sydal looks like he's going to take the brunt of it.
SINGLES MATCH
Matt Sydal rushes forward and takes a swing with his right hand, but Moxley catches it under his arm. Sydal now takes a swing with the left, but it's caught under Moxley’s other arm. Mox now headbutts Sydal who tries to shake it off but gets another headbutt for his trouble from Moxley. Sydal falls back a bit, but he's still caught in Moxley's grasp, and gets a third headbutt as Moxley finally releases his arms. That turns out to be a huge mistake, however, as Sydal rears forward and hits a headbutt of his own that knocks Moxley back this time, as he holds onto the top rope now to stay up. Matt Sydal points at his third eye position on his forehead as he winces and holds his own head now.
MICHAEL COLE: I'd say that's using your head, Wade, but it doesn't appear either man thought that through.
WADE BARRETT: The adrenaline running through their veins is at an all-time high in the beginning of this match. Neither man is thinking right now, they're doing what they've been programmed to do after years of competing, battle!
Matt Sydal shakes it off as Jon Moxley steadies himself on the apron, and Sydal runs up and hits an enziguri that rocks Moxley once again. Sydal, however, grabs him this time and pulls him over the ropes and back into the ring with a hip toss, shaking the top rope for a moment before pointing at his forehead once again and then down at Moxley on the canvas. Moxley tries to get up but is hit with a kneeling fireman's carry takedown into an armbar that grounds him once again. Moxley isn't giving up that easily, though, as he drags himself over to the ropes with his strength and grabs the bottom rope to break the hold. The referee warns Sydal, who releases the hold but doesn't look happy about it.
MICHAEL COLE: Maybe I spoke too soon, it looks like Sydal might just have the fight he needs to end this match soon!
WADE BARRETT: Well, nobody in the WWE can be underestimated. After all, they made it here for a reason, they are at the top of their game!
MICHAEL COLE: Mox is going to have to do something quick if he wants to stay in this match!
Sydal brushes past the referee who spins him around and is yelling at him now, meanwhile Mox is getting up to a knee as he looks at what's going on. A grin spreads over his face as he hooks Sydal's arms from behind and lifts him up in the air as the referee gets out of the way and he's dropped with the Hook & Ladder, Mox spins him over to hook the leg, 1...2…Sydal gets the shoulder up! Mox, however, quickly grabs him around the back of the neck and cradles his head as he rains down hard right punches into his forehead, the skin breaking as blood begins to pour out. Mox leans down as he licks it up and spits Sydal's own blood on the man as he gets up. Mox then kicks him right in the gut as he deadlifts him up and applies a double underhook as he looks out at the fans and gets a grin on his face.
WADE BARRETT: All it took was a moment, Cole, one moment to make sure Mox has what he needs to get a victory!
MICHAEL COLE: Sydal is putting up a hell of a fight though, you can't say he hasn't gotten his fair shots in!
WADE BARRETT: Jon Moxley doesn't want to leave tonight without a victory though!
Moxley picks Sydal up in the double underhook and drops him with the DEATH RIDER, poking Matt Sydal in the middle of his forehead as he shouts about “where is Sydal's third eye now?!” Moxley now picks him up again and nails a SECOND DEATH RIDER! Moxley falls on top of Matt Sydal as he throws an arm over him, 1...2....3!
WINNER
JON MOXLEY
06:53 via PINFALL
SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here is your winner, JOOON MOOOXLEEEY!
Moxley rubs his hand against the open wound on Matt Sydal's head as he shows the fans and puts a dot on his own forehead as he exits the ring.
MICHAEL COLE: A little brutal for my tastes, Wade.
WADE BARRETT: I'll tell you what, Jon Moxley went easy on him if you ask me.
MICHAEL COLE: Matt Sydal definitely isn't going to like what Moxley did there at the end though. Mocking him and his third eye as if he took it out when he busted him open.
The referee tends to Matt Sydal as Jon Moxley raises a fist in the air for his victory and the fans are going wild for the action that just occurred as the cameras go to the backstage area, where we see the ever-present Cathy Kelley in her typical post in the interview space of Monday Night RAW. She smiles excitedly at the camera before beginning to speak to the RAW audience.
CATHY KELLEY: What a night it’s been so far tonight on Monday Night RAW! Now, as we all know, Night of Champions was a landmark event for WWE that kicked off a new era, including a new WWE Champion and a new WWE Women’s Champion. But it was also a night of firsts, as we crowned the first ever Women's intercontinental Champion, and my guest at this time is the woman who made history when she overcame Fallon Henley and Chelsea Green in a triple threat match to win that title…"The Man" Becky Lynch.
A loud pop goes up as the ever-popular Becky Lynch walks onto the screen, her flaming red hair bouncing behind her. She is clad in her traditional "THE MAN" black shirt, but now she has a new accessory: a glittering golden belt, held snug against her shoulder, that she slaps a few times before leaning into the mic with a smile on her face.
BECKY LYNCH: It just feels right, doesn't it?
She looks proudly back to Cathy Kelly from the title.
BECKY LYNCH: Y'know, there's a saying as old as the hills; "The more things change, the more they stay the same" It's a new era around here, new champions, new major players, a whole new world. But the one thing that ain't changed and won’t ever change? The Man has all the gold.
CATHY KELLEY: Well, first off congratulations on your victory, but I'm sure you're already looking to the future. So, I guess what I'd like to know is what the future looks like?
Becky tilts her head, as if considering the question.
BECKY LYNCH: The short answer? Whatever I damn well say it is. The fact of the matter is, this belt belongs to ME, and I ain't letting it go any time soon. Now, as for the future? Y'know this shoulder is all warmed up...but me other? It's a little bare, don't ya think? Because I got a long auld memory, and I know there's a woman walking around here with ANOTHER belt. Calling herself the CHAMP. Which I find confusing because to be The Man, you gotta beat the Man. And Serena Deeb? You ain't the Man until I say so!
An intrigued hum goes up as the crowd realizes what Becky is getting at.
BECKY LYNCH: So what I say is, Serena Deeb, ya little rat-faced knacker! If you got the stones, you’ll come down to the ring an-
Becky suddenly stops in mid-sentence; her eyebrow raised as something catches her attention off-screen. Stepping into the frame is none other than WWE Co-Owner, Stephanie McMahon, who greets Becky with a warm smile.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Hi Becky, I just wanted to congratulate you on winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions. Triple H and I are both so proud of you and we’re very excited to see what you do with this historical reign.
Stephanie extends her hand out to Becky, looking for a handshake. Becky, however, just looks down at the hand and then back up at Stephanie and shrugs.
BECKY LYNCH: "Proud" huh? Well, I'd love to tell you what to do with that pride, but I don't need the censors knocking on my door.
Becky squares up to Stephanie, a false friendly smile on her face.
BECKY LYNCH: Fair warning: I know you and the suits have given me the run around before so you probably felt like you can keep doing it, so I'll give ya a pass. But if you EVER try and pull what you did at Night of Champions, switching my opponents on me at the last minute, you're going to have a problem..."Boss''.
Making her fake smile grow wider by flashing her teeth, Becky turns and walks away, leaving Stephanie standing there with a shocked expression on her face. Suddenly, Chelsea Green comes up next to Stephanie and crosses her arms in front of her, shaking her head.
CHELSEA GREEN: That was so rude. Obviously, someone needs a lesson in manners.
Stephanie slowly turns her head to look at Chelsea, who notices the boss looking at her and she quickly turns her attention to her and smiles.
CHELSEA GREEN: Sorry, I couldn’t help but overhear. I can’t believe Becky had the audacity to speak to you that way when all you were trying to do was congratulate her!
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Yeah, well, I’ll deal with her attitude another time. It’s not exactly something new.
CHELSEA GREEN: Oh yeah, yeah, for sure. It’s just…is that really someone you want representing this new era of WWE as a champion?
Stephanie arches an eyebrow.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: What are you getting at, Chelsea?
Chelsea’s smile grows wider.
CHELSEA GREEN: I was hoping maybe we could talk…just the two of us?
Clearly intrigued, Stephanie nods.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON: Sure, sure. Let’s go to my office.
Motioning towards her office, Stephanie begins to walk towards her office, and Chelsea follows close behind, her smile growing even wider as the cameras go back to ringside.
MICHAEL COLE: Becky Lynch wasn’t very receptive towards Stepjhanie McMahon’s well wishes, but it looks like Chelsea Green has something up her sleeve!
WADE BARRETT: She probably just wants to get some advice on where to take her career, Cole, she suffered two difficult losses in one night last week!
MICHAEL COLE: Speaking of difficult losses, our next match features Christian Cage and Kazuchika Okada, who both came up short in the Intercontinental Championship battle royal.
WADE BARRETT: You have to think both men are hungry to get some positive momentum going, I think they very well might tear the house down!
"Rainmaker (Next Level)" by Yonosuke Kitamura begins to play over the P/A system as Okada rises onto the stage and spreads his arms wide for the crowd. A grin spreads over his face as he makes his way down to the ring. He stops about half way down, and he grabs a sign from a fan in the front row that says, "Cage is your father" and he rips it in two before tossing it up in the air and continuing down the ramp.
MICHAEL COLE: Okada didn't have quite the luck he wanted at Night of Champions, Wade.
WADE BARRETT: I'd say not, Cole, he was basically dropped on his head and tossed out as soon as the match began.
MICHAEL COLE: Everybody has their spell of bad luck when it comes to battle royals, though.
WADE BARRETT: Hold on a second, Cole! What is this?!
Christian Cage is booking it down the ramp towards Kazuchika Okada who is unaware, smashing him from behind with a forearm to the back of the neck. Okada goes tumbling forwards down the rampway and falls to the ground. Christian is now stomping away at his ribs and kicks him in the side hard. Christian then picks Okada up from the ground and he leads him over to the steel steps before driving Okada head first into them with a loud CLANG! Okada is down, and Christian Cage is going back up the rampway as he picks up a piece of the poster Okada tore up and begins to ball it up. Okada is in a daze as Christian makes his way back and shoves the ball of paper into his mouth and shoves it in with two fingers, lapping him across the face as he tells Okada that he wishes Christian was his father, but instead he's just going to get the ass beating that his real father never gave him. Christian picks him up again and rolls him into the ring.
SINGLES MATCH
Christian Cage rolls into the ring as he stomps up to Kazuchika Okada who is still down on the mat and berates him some more. Lifting him up from the ground, he squishes Okada's face in his hands as he berates him even further. Christian then flips him around, standing behind Okada now, hooking both arms, turning around, and dropping him with and UNPRETTIER! As he looks down at Okada, he begins to laugh as he picks him up and nails him with another UNPRETTIER! Dropping down to a laying position, with Okada's head beside his own, he whispers something before flipping him over and laying across him confidently as the referee makes the count, 1...2....3!
MICHAEL COLE: THAT WAS QUICK!
WADE BARRETT: DID THAT JUST HAPPEN AGAIN TO KAZUCHIKA OKADA?!

SAMANTHA IRVIN: Here is your winner, The Patriarch, CHRISTIIIAAAN CAAAGE!
MICHAEL COLE: Christian certainly isn't making any friends tonight.
WADE BARRETT: I'm still in awe that Kazuchika Okada went down that quickly. After Night of Champions this can't be a good example of what his future here looks like.
MICHAEL COLE: He's definitely got to find a way to flip the script, right now it looks like he's been cursed to lose every match.
Christian Cage gets up as the referee goes to raise his arm, but he rips it away from him and takes his own victory pose as he throws both hands in the air and the crowd is booing him loudly. Christian Cage just grins as he wipes his feet towards Okada before exiting the ring. Backing up the rampway slowly, he taunts to booing crowd by mocking them by pretending to cry before pointing and laughing at the people in the front row as the cameras fade out to a commercial break.
