Sunday Night Heat 4-7-2024

The WWE Universe doesn’t have to wait any longer as some chopped up version of “Paradise City” hits the sound system and out comes Mike Sydal to a warm reaction! Sydal stands atop of the stage – yoga mat strapped over his right shoulder – with his signature ‘praying hands’ pose for the adoring crowd.

Mike is introduced as he slaps hands with the fans along the ramp, making his way to the ring. Sydal places his mat in the corner of the ring, rolls in and immediately signals to Mike Rome that he has something to say…

MIKE SYDAL: Welcome everyone to Sunday – Night – Heeeeeeat!

Of course, Mike gives way to the audience’s ovation.

MIKE SYDAL: Tonight, you’re due to see many great competitors give it their all; just for you guys! I think that’s just the coolest thing! An open opportunity to show the world what you’re made of!

The crowd agrees as they cheer the notion of Sydal stepping up!

MAURO RANALLO: Corey, it seems as if Mike Sydal is taking his chance here to kick us off on Sunday Night Heat!

COREY GRAVES: Ya’ know, Mauro – I really like Mike’s abilities! He takes after his brother, Matt Sydal; who took a brutal beating this past Monday night on RAW.

MAURO RANALLO: That’s right, Corey. I was stunned when I saw –

Before Mauro can finish his thought, Mike Sydal peps up his tone.

MIKE SYDAL: So – before anyone else gets out here tonight; I want to give everyone, here tonight and watching around the world, a reason to believe! My brother Matt was the victim of a vicious assault by that monster Jon Moxley. Let’s let the past be the past – I want you great fans of the WWE Universe to believe in Sydal!

The Sunday Night Heat faithful erupt alongside Mike Sydal’s enthusiasm!

MIKE SYDAL: That’s that. Let’s restore some faith in Sydal; right here… right now! Who’s got what it takes?! I’m fired up tonight!

Mike tosses the microphone to the outside of the ring and begins his warm-up in place, while removing his entrance gear. A referee slides into the ring…

MAURO RANALLO: Mama Mia, this crowd is scorching hot tonight!

COREY GRAVES: And clearly, they want to see Mike bounce back from his most recent Heat appearance when Nick Wayne took it straight to him! Let’s go, Sydal!

The crowd stirs in anticipation as the tension settles…





… That familiar riff grows across the arena – a small flare of pyro POPS on the Heat stage – and the crowd comes unglued… “WILD THING, YOU MAKE MY HEART SING!”

Jon Moxley wastes zero time, mauling his way down the arena’s stairs and through the joyous fans. Moxley hops over the guardrail, takes a moment to acknowledge the few fans he seems to choose and then proceeds rolling into the ring. Two quick steps bring Jon Moxley chest to chest, face to face with Mike Sydal.

The referee separates the two into their respective corners – both men oblige – the bell rings and we’re off!


Sydal charges from the near corner of the ring, as he steps up to Moxley – he’s quickly met in place with a lighting quick kick to the gut. Sydal hunches over and is viciously snapped down and spiked into the mat with – you guessed it – PARADIGM SHIFT! Moxley stands over the motionless body of Sydal, soaking in the mixed reaction from the WWE Universe.

COREY GRAVES: Well – thanks for coming, Mike! See you next week!

MAURO RANALLO: Corey! Please…

Jon Moxley lifts Mike Sydal; cupping his hands under his chin and turns him around, propping him against the turnbuckles. Moxley takes a second before grabbing a hold of Sydal’s limp wrist, dragging his dead weight into a double underarm hook, lift and DEATH RIDER! Jon quickly shifts over and covers the lifeless Mike Sydal, the referee counts – 1… 2… 3!




Moxley – again – wasting no time, rolls and shuffles over to the corner nearest to the timekeeper. He seemingly demands a microphone before any announcement can be made; while the referee tends to Sydal, who hasn’t moved since the pinfall.

JON MOXLEY: MATT SYDAL! I hope you’re watching. Take this for what it is… don’t push me. It’s done. Don’t you see? No blood tonight. Yours was enough for me this past Monday. Keep your hippie dippy sh – … the yoga, the meditations … you Sydal boys; just stick it, pal, okay?

The crowd pops for Moxley catching himself before he can curse, live on Heat.

MAURO RANALLO: Woof! I almost had to apologize to you, fans. Looks like Moxley is getting used to the structure around here, now that he’s back with the WWE!

COREY GRAVES: Well, let’s not go that far, Mauro! You never know with Jon Moxley… I’ve known him for quite some time and he’s as big of a loose cannon as they come these days!

MAURO RANALLO: I just hope and wish Matt and Mike Sydal a speedy recovery from Moxley’s destructive ways lately.

Jon brings the microphone with him as he exits the ring and approaches the barricade to leave.

JON MOXLEY: Is anyone here going to be at RAW tomorrow night?

A small section of the audience cheers…

JON MOXLEY: Well – I’m not so sure about Matt Sydal or Mike Sydal – but Jon Moxley will be live and in color! Maaaatt Cardonaaaaa…

A mixed reaction from the WWE Universe…

JON MOXLEY: Hey buddy – nice to see you ‘round these parts again! Make sure you bring your most favorite toys. And how about that Chelsea Green…?

The fans cheers at the mere mention of Chelsea Green…

JON MOXLEY: Just you wait… ol’ Mox has something special planned for you; tomorrow night. Sleep tight, bud. Make sure you kiss Chelsea good night.

Wild Thing hits again as Moxley tosses the mic in the direction of the timekeeper, tumbles over the barricade and makes his way through the ecstatic Sunday Night Heat fans…

COREY GRAVES: There you have it, Moxley is on a warpath and I’m glad that I’m on this side of the table.

MAURO RANALLO: Tomorrow night, live from the TD Garden in Boston, Jon Moxley goes one-on-one with the emerging Matt Cardona. What will surely be an interesting matchup, my interest is piqued!

The graphic hyping the RAW match flashes across the screen – then we head to our first commercial break of the evening…

      MATT SYDAL VS. FEUGO DEL SOL
SINGLES MATCH

Fuego Del Sol is already in the ring, he looks very focused and pumped up bouncing on his heels.

Mike Rome: Already in the ring, from Mobile Alabama

weighing in at 170 pounds  Fuego Del . . . Sol!


Fuego gets a decent response from fans, recognized by a small amount of fans.

Eye In The Sky Blares over the P.a. system as Matt Sydal walks out, he flashes his signature white tooth grin that would put Chip Skylark to shame, as he is wearing his baby blue aviator jacket to match with his baby blue and white tights self-designed with white and black emblems of Third Eyes, his trademark kickpads and white wrist tape. He stands on the stage with his head bowed and hands clasped in the prayer position soaking in the ubiqitious pop from the WWE Universe.  

  Mike Rome: Introducing the opponent, from Saint Louis Missouri, residing in Clearwater, Florida . . weighing in at 165 lbs Matt . . . Sydal!




Matt raises his arms with twin peace sign finger gesture then points to his forehead with the  third eye taunt as he walks down the aisle, he high-fives as many fans as possible on both sides of the aisle until he reaches the end. He executes his nifty signature slide through the bottom ring apron and gets right up in the face of Feugo, they jaw-jack a bit back and forth and he obnoxiously jabs his pointer finger into the forehead of Feugo and the ref intervenes to seperate them.

Matt spreads his arms gallantly, despite this quite arrogant display fans are still cheering him on.

The bell is rung and Fuego goes for the lock up which Matt sidesteps going behind locking on the rear waistlock . .


 Fuego goes for a snapmare reversal but Sydal lands on his feet with a front flip for a pop from the WWE Universe and gestures to his forehead again with the Third Eye taunt.

They lock up again and this time Fuego succeeds with the upper power into a wristlock-armbar, causing matt to grimace and hunch over as fans ooh. Matt shakes his finger of his free hand his body language telling fans " don't worry I got this", he escapes wih a backflip-kip up and front-headstand handspring combo transitioning into a fancy double wristlock arm drag sending Fuego across the canvas, Matt doesn't let up the pace as Fuego rises to his feet Matt follows up with a wheelbarrow arm drag! Fuego slaps the canvas in frustration and runs into the  Japanese arm drag!
Matt works the shoulder and arm with a shoulder-claw and armlock.






MAURO RANALLO:
Matt Sydal is a veteran of the craft. When up against younger talent especially fellow cruiserweights. His stragety is to put the fun and ferocity in the fundamentals.

Still kneeling Matt transitions into a front facelock and rolls with the front chancery hold, he trasnitions from that into a rolling rear waistlock .

COREY GRAVES:  Matt Sydal is literally wrestling a circle around Fuego!

Fuego manages to reverse into a seated headlock! 

They both rise with Fuego with the upperhand with the side-headlock as fans cheer on Sydal to fight out of it. Sydal jabs him in the gut a couple times to escape the grasp but is pushed forward by Fuengo sent into the ropes, he returns from the Irish whjp bouncing off the ropes to hit a trdaemark flying spinning heel/wheel kick catching Fuego straight across the face!!


 Matt follows up with a series of low round kicks to the legs, and middle round kicks to the torso and back, Fuego reacting like he's being electrocuted by each kick.  He attempts a punch only for Sydal to evade that with a duck and follow up with another trademark move of his the jumping knee strike right to the chin sending him dizzied and dazed back long enough for Matt to finish with a rolling savate, the jumping spin solebutt kick to the Adam's apple! 

MAURO RANALLO: With a background in Taekwondo and obviously an influence from the likes of Ultimo Dragon and Rob Van Dam. Just like them Sydal has made his name as a trailblazer and visionary.
Fuego falls to the canvas grabbing for his throat for a moment and stays down in perfect supine position. Fans go nuts as they realize it is the perfect time for Sydal to hit the shooting star press.
They get their phones and cameras as he points to the turnbuckle and smirks rushing to the outside ring apron, he climbs up the turnbuckle and goes for the Air Bourne!

He tucks his shins in mid-air unfortunately Fuego rolls out of the way lucklily Sydal is able to stick the landing impressively on his feet.

Fuego runs at him however Matt is able to catch him without even looking behind or turning around at all catching him in a side-walk slam position and executes a single knee pendulum backbreaker!
 
COREY GRAVES: Talk about seeing with your third eye, he didn't even turn around! 

Matt gets a huge reaction from that move and continues to punish Fuego transitioing into the double knee pendelum backbreaker submission.

 MAURO RANALLO: Matt Sydal applying the Bow and Arrow, doing a great job in grouding the luchadore!

As they cut to a commercial break.

Returning back Sydal still has him in the Bow and arrow submission hold!



Sydal follows that up with a harsh jumping double foot stomp to the spine, jumping off into perfect position just as Fuego writhes rolling into supine position Sydal follows up with the standing moonsault/backflip turning it into a corkscrew senton bomb in mid-air! 

He hooks the leg, just a single hook of  a hamstring

 1  - 2 !!!

Fuego  manages to escape from that presumptoous pin.


Sydal is flabbergasted, he checks with the ref, as he is doing so Fuego rushes to the top turnbuckle ropes as Sydal turns around he is caught with Fuego's finisher of the diving Tornado DDT!

MAURO RANALLO: A lackisdical pin there from Sydal and it could be his downfall!

Fuego hooks both legs

 1 -2 . . NO Sydal kicks out!!!
COREY GRAVES: Oh my god, he kicked out! This is an excellent match!

Both men are sprawled out. Feugo this time is out of his mind, hands on his head in shock .


He attempts a La-Magistral however Sydal manages to escape and reverse it with the Lightning Spiral, the swinging fisherman neckbreaker he adopted from his friend Masato Yoshino!!!


MAURO RANALLO: The Lightning Spiral! Yet he doesn't look like he's done!

He finishes off Fuego finally with the finisher he adopted from his long time rival Delirious, the Cobra Stretch, the seated-arm trap-crossfaced cobra clutch submission forcing Fuego to tap out!!!


 Matt does not releasest he hold , he just keeps on wrenching it for several moments untl the ref has practically pull of him off. 

Matt points to his forehead with the third eye taunt again as he shouts down at Fuego then lets the ref raise his arm. 

Fans are still cheering mostly but the camera crew does a good job focusing on some fans shocked by the agression from Sydal.

Matt looks over at Fuego again, he goes over to him . , ,
COREY GRAVES: You made your point, what are you doing?!

He helps him up though and shakes hands with him and raises his arm giving him his props too.
He clasps his hands together and bows in Japanese style respect and exits the ring.

MAURO RANALLO: A show of respect from Matt Sydal, for as much as a showman as he is and that vicious Jaguar spirit. He's got respect for his opponent and will give him recognition.


COREY GRAVES: Outside the ring Matt Sydal is a zen sweetheart, in ring he is a savage, gritty, grizzled veteran. Mox better not overlook him.
